Sorry for my low-level English, but can it be a track for upgrading the knuckles ?
The photo of mine 😥 identical to those who failed

Thank you, we can clearly see the difference in molding between the two

The rib of the molding of the failed versions goes in the direction of the bolt

The rib of the molding of the new versions goes to the opposite

This is only an assumption, but maybe the update of the knuckle corresponds to this molding difference? Or a pure coincidence?

As we see these knuckles, we even notice differences in models that have the rib on the same side!

When I compare your photo of the knuckle that failed with mine, there is already a difference.

But when I look at the new knuckle that they mount the difference is even greater!

I think there have been different upgrade or different suppliers over the years.

It would take a photo of the knuckles of the latest l405 MY 22 to see the model mounted.

Thank you elboss for letting me use your photos

Hi all, just seen Cristian and Vera's latest youtube video regarding the cracked hub carrier at the upper balljoint, seems the issue is caused by corrosion between the steel joint and alloy carrier expanding the alloy component. I have just checked my L405 (2019MY) and it seems on my car, after gentle cleaning with fine wire brush, the upper joints are shrouded in aluminium.

Hello Coxy996,
Are you talking about this aluminum sleeve?

Was watching the latest LR Times youtube vid last night and Christans L405 has both (front) knuckles cracking. He said that he rang the dealer manager and he said he hadnt heard a thing about it from LR England. So he's going to put a submission into there motor authority about it and see what happens. He did say that it will probably be a while before anythings happens in the beaurocracy.

So are many 2016’s affected as well?

Anyone with this issue in the US can submit a complaint here:

https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-prob...w.ds#index

This helps develop a recall.

Indeed, I initially thought about this update.

The photo is that of my my 18.

And I found many other photos with a black sleeve:

But on the last photo that failed it looks like the sleeve is like ours in gray aluminum?

Hi Rio, i've been trying to find out if the alloy sleeved joint is 2018my onward specific, not having much luck.

This is my driver side joint.

It is indeed very complicated to have answers.

That's why I'm trying to find out if an update has taken place, by observing the different knuckle models.

The only difference comes from the molding as I mentioned above...
