So the recall has been somehow officialized? A friend of mine with a TDV8 4.4 built in March has the same issue Santorini Black RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 |

I'm not sure it is Official yet. But from what people seem to be hearing from their Dealers - the expectation is that something will be done to fix the issue at some point. I'll certainly update if I hear anything more. |

The new batteries and software were in production from late February so your friend will not be part of the recall AFAIK. |

Think it might be official as I have had mine taken in on Tuesday, and had not suffered any problems to date. Was told the there was a notifiaction from LR last week and they needed to do this and other changes. Mine's one of the first MY2011 models I got in November.

The new battery and software that was available from early March is not working / fixing the problem.

The issue is not a dealer one but a LR one as having had several conversations with my dealer, who I know watches the forums, their hands are tied by LR as to what they can and cannot do.

I have a related question for the MY11 owners. I have never had the battery message nor has it failed to start but every now and then when I go to start it, depress the brake and press the button, nothing happens. The instrument panel lights up but the starter motor doesn't crank. However if I try a second time, it flies into life. Anyone else had similar? i had that happen when i had a flat battery, so had tried to start it 3 or 4 times then given up, put it on charge for a few hours then when I came back it obviously had power, seeing as all the gizmos switched on, but wouldn't crank. seems I had depleted the vacuum in the servo, and had to push down really hard on the brake to get her to crank. weird cos I thought it was just an electrical interlock, but perhaps there is a brake pressure signal that has to be seen to enable the cranking? |
