Since getting our Westminster in May, it has averaged 31,7mpg over 9k miles, mainly motorway to/from S of France 3 times.

Today at a steady 60mph on cruise from Preston to Lake District it was showing 41mpg on trip as I parked at home. as a comparison, i did the same journey on saturday at same speed in an Audi A6 3.0tdi and that showe exactly 42mpg.
Difference in economy only shows above 70mph, when the Audi still shows 37mpg at 80mph and the Range Rover averages around 30mpg at 80mph.

2004 4.4v8 (BMW)

- avge 19.8 mpg petrol (last trip got 23.8 MPG on petrol @ 70 mph on motorway)
-26 mpg or 24p per mile on LPG (hooning it down the A36 and around to Salisbury plain and back!)
Getting 240-250 miles per LPG tank (takes 75L at a fill up)

My 2002 TD6 used to get avge 24-25mpg so loving the v8 power and sound!!!

Well......I've just bought my TD6.......and I'm really dissapointed with the power vs fuel economy. I've still got my P38 4.6 with LPG. It is faster, smoother, cheaper to run.......

But........


I do love the L322 though, I just wish I had held out for a S/C on LPG. I just couldn't find one.........and I was warned off them by my local LPG guy as he said you need a flash lube system and they might still burn valves out.

Then I find this forum and all the S/Cs with LPG!!!!

Had my 2009 3.6 TDV8 a week now and its averaging 16.9mpg. It is only getting used for short journeys (2-3 miles) so I wasn't expecting it to be ecomonical, but I was hoping for around 22mpg.

I have just rang DMS automotive about getting the engine remapped. As Im not interested in extra performance they said they can do an 'economy map' which should get that 16.9 up to about 22mpg.

Waiting back to hear on a price.

i'd leave it a bit longer than a week to get a 'proper' average...do some longer runs in it and that average should go up...a remap wont affect the mpg that much if you're only doing short runs.. ... - .- -.

I think you'd be lucky to get 22 mpg on a 2-3 mile journey! The engine is not even going to warm up properly in that time. Remember it's a 3.6 litre diesel V8 lump, it's never going to be terribly efficient for really short runs.

I'd maybe forget about the remap if they're claiming they can give you such an improvement over such short journeys. Plus, if you only do such short journeys it'll take you donkeys years to recover the cost of the remap in fuel savings!  Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Just an observation guys, but the OBC on my 2012 Westminster is consistently over 15% optimistic on average fuel consumption compared to real-life measurements, so the 28mpg I see actually translates to around 23mpg at the pumps.

Strangely though, the 'range' measurement reflects the real-world consumption as I usually get a max range of 490 - 520 or so miles on a filled tank. 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

Real world, im getting 25mpg. The TD6 seems to be under quite a lot of strain in the ff, i live in an area with a fair few hills. Should have got the v8

over the last 14,000 miles on my road trip app
towing over 2000 miles Ifor williams 510 and 2 horses approx 2200kg weight

best 23.5 mpg
worst 12.2 mpg
towing 17.0 mpg
average 18.8 mpg

2002 4.2 V8. With LPG

The last 220 miles have all been short journeys driving in london.
I filled the tank, then refilled it after 220 miles. Onboard computer said 14MPG, actual fuel used for mileage was 13MPG.
The second fuel cons meter, which i reset to zero when i bought the car in august and haven't touched since, is now down to 19MPG over 3K miles,

And the price of LPG is all over the place around here. BP want 82p a litre, sainsburys 74p.
