Rob just catching up here... that throttle body pipe does look very oily - on the outside. Leaking?

. Cheers, Greg

Could have been. Cleaned up and they might use some PTFE. It's going to a local mechanic tomorrow....we've got so far and I'm advising remotely!

Time for an update from me.
I've finally got around to getting the DPF cleaned and whilst off I also removed and checked all the sensor flexible pipes for splits/cracks or blockages, which I'm pleased to say all passed. Now all I need is a combination of time off work mixed with good weather so that I can refit and then set the pressure sensor up as per the instructions in the WM. I tested the voltage readings prior to the DPF being removed (or flagging an Amber or Red warning) and they were all reading within tolerance. I will of course retest once the sensor has been reset just to check that they still remain OK.

Did you do a pressure test on that before removing it like Steve Norman ďid for James?
Fingers crossed Thumbs Up

I haven’t had a pressure test on the cooling side if that’s what you mean. I have taken a note of the work James had carried out which caused me to monitor the coolant temperature with the IID which was reporting as correct, however, I still haven’t discounted that this may be an issue and is included in my ever growing list of testing to be carried out once the car is back together. Hopefully your friends vehicle will be a much simpler fix and if it points to the thermostat housing then I may as well change that too Thumbs Up 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Changed 4 doughnut rubbers (old ones were fine) as good practice
Cleaned MAP in doughnut (very scuzzy)
Cleaned intercooler top hose to throttle body and the Boost Temperature sensor inside. Cleaned up green lip seal.
Engine coolant - coming up to temperature OK. No thermostat issues
Tested back pressure on DPF with a manual pressure gauge on front sensor. Pressure was 2psi
Changed oil due to high dilution figure and reset service interval using IID
Reset all parameters with mechanic's professional kit (don't ask me the name)
No forced regen carried out due to low back pressure
Told car is has a new DPF fitted
Light extinguished Thumbs Up

Not out of the woods yet so currently monitoring usual stuff via IID over next few days.
Plan to get a high pressure test done (not easy to find a place that does)

Good update Rob, lots of familiarity in there for me. I've had to tell the car it's had a new DPF on 2 occasions now due a red light, it's not ideal but at least it gives you a chance. I guess the best thing to do now is run it around and watch how quickly the soot level rises and if a regen gets requested and more importantly, completed. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Rob, just spoken to Steve Norman. He uses a normal (standard pressure gauge) to do a DPF pressure test using the front sensor tube. if it is 2PSI then it is fine. It will normally regen at around 29PSI/2 BAR, but in reality it will do one at 15 psi.

Hope that helps.

That’s exactly how it was tested with a Sealey pressure gauge on front sensor pipe via a temporary T piece

So far, the work carried out above has cured the amber issue. Ongoing monitoring with IID.
