Side Steps Retractable: how keep them out with doors closed

We need to lift out 4.4 TDV8 that has original Side Steps Retractable, but we need to have them out with door closed to place the jack of the lift.

While I am able to set them always closed I am not aware how to set them always open with doors closed.

I have tried to press the button on the roof but seem doing nothng

Pls help

From memory, I think you need to hold the button with the key turned but the car not started. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

On my L405 you turn on the ignition and within 3 seconds press the side step button below the dash until it flashes. To get them back in is the same procedure.

solution found

here the solution I have found on an old tread and it worked

RR Sidesteps Operation:

To force the steps to stay out regardless of the position of the doors, what LR call 'roof access and jacking mode' get in the vehicle and close the doors, quickly insert the key in the dash and turn to position two, whilst steps still out, then hold the switch for about five seconds until the light in the switch illuminates continuously then remove the key. The steps will now stay out regardless of the position of the doors unless you drive away or lock the vehicle at which point they will return to their normal function.

If the steps are working and you want to disable them: insert the key in the dash in position 1 and hold the switch whilst turning the key to position 2, the light in the switch will flash twice to confirm the system is now off. To turn the system on repeat the procedure but the light will now flash three times to confirm the system is now on.
