removing the egr valve and blanking it off is defo the way to go ..i'm getting between 3/4 mpg more at the moment ..it'll need a month or so to get a proper mpg average but its looking good..

Did you replace the air filter as well, or is that a pure EGR removal gain?

I'm getting about the same, but not sure what part that was down to! __________________

my air filter was replaced recently and although i got a slight mpg increase initially it soon settled down to normal..

my mpg increase at the moment is purely down to the egr blanking kit.

The thing with the gunge in the EGR, is that it will have coked up everything "upstream" of it, including the inlet manifold and inlets within the cylinder head..

We didnt have time to clean out inlet manifold but we could see inside. It wasn't too bad tbh. The EGR was by far the worse effected by the gunge due to the narrower area. When I have more time I will prob get the inlet manifold sorted. FFRR TD6 HSE

there's going to be an influx of second hand egr valves on ebay soon.. Laughing

@rich , you are so right about the 'gunge' going into the manifolds etc ,hopefully some good old fresh air will clear it out a bit.....

Same here, averaging around 24+ now, but that's with just blanking off the vacuum hose. Didn't get time to look inside the EGR but with only 20k on the clock hopefully it won't be too coked up.
Driving is defiantly smoother, acceleration seems better also. Time will tell we'll see what happens over the next couple of months Rolling Eyes

I am reading all these posts and keep thinking do I or dont I?

I like the sound of any improvement... Maybe if it goes through the MOT next week I might, although the bottom bolts looked fiddly to get at. Reformed
