DenniJ - you need to speak to Dolphinboy. I'll send him this thread.

Symptoms were originally:

1. several incidents of RP at the same spot on the M4. Then after a year started getting DPF yellow warning followed by a red after a while. I fixed that myself somehow with my IID tool. No warning codes. Car ran fine other than repeated DPF warnings and RP. Went to red and got the DPF cleaned and reset for £200 by franchise (terraclean).

2. Had the inlet manifold changed and car ran fine for a while but then I got a yellow again and RP. IID tool showed lots of incomplete regens (in their 000's) at a time.

3. Steve found broken Thermostat housing (probably when another garage fitted the inlet manifold). cause of DPF incomplete was low engine temps. he managed to get it to regen of its own accord by taking it up steep hills in low gear at speed! Changed thermo, housing and engine temps sensor and now all good. Thumbs Up

here are my posts on it.

@RangeRover L322 I have been in contact with dolphinboy on a few occasions regarding this (see thread comments) hence why I was looking at coolant temperature and voltage, nothing conclusive for me so far but I haven’t ruled it out yet. After the last red warning popped up in December I parked the car up and just gave up on it as I had reached the end of my patience at that point, probably something to do with the vast sums already being spent and feeling like I hadn’t had any progress. Now that spring has arrived I have set myself the task of trying to get to the bottom of this once and for all, I need to sit down and collate all the information I have so far and carry on working through the troubleshooting as shown in the WM (I have carried out quite a bit of that so far). As I haven’t had anything new to report I haven’t updated this thread for a while but felt some hope when I saw Dr Rob post of a similar, if not identical issue. Hopefully, as a collective we can get the issue resolved as sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can spot something that someone else has missed or become blind too. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

That’s quite a bit of oil residue there, bloody annoying that you can’t just buy a new seal. For what it’s worth I purchased a new one and fitted but it made no difference, however, I didn’t have that much oil residue on my old one 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Agreed. Crap design. Next step is smoke test

They got the diff press sensor to hit 1V by revving to 4000rpm static as per WM. It then dropped back to 0.7V.

Fans also kicking in way too early so we also suspect thermostat and/or ETC sensor as per dolphinboy had

Local indy reckons it could be a DPF sensor - I wonder if he means temp / pressure sensor? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I had a new pipe under warranty mate. If it cheers you up Rob, my pipe was, perhaps still is, soaking wet inside. My Indie says it's not unusual. The only source it can come from is the turbo unless someone knows any different.
