Doing the same

I am also going through this and purchased the Mini jackpad, had it machined and replaced the top. Pictures attached. Found a machine shop here in Miami and had them do the work. Not sure if it will work - so need to try it. 2008 HSE B. Grey

Has anyone found a 'pad' that can be put on the bottle jack to make it L405 compatible (not used it since having L322s ans it's a waste)?

Apologies, if this is covered earlier in the thread/ just skim read so far.

Thanks

Thumbs Up

The key dimension is the rectangle viewed from the top should be 30mm x 55mm the 30mm is really tight but you could happily be a bit over on the 55mm - say 57mm maybe. Obviously if you get a measurement from someone who has bought the official BMW bit they would be the ones to use. Thumbs Up

Looks like 30mm is just right Thumbs Up
Going to order and then feedback. I have the SGS trolley jack..3tonne one

Adaptor will sit nicely on the rubber pad that came with the jack Thumbs Up

Pad has arrived. Feedback shortly in a new “DrRob jacking thread”

Just a tip Rob, but make sure not to let the piston drop whilst you have got the saddle removed

Mike. Thanks. This adaptor is for using with my trolley jack. Pad to pad if that makes sense. I have a Disco 2 bottle jack for roadside wheel changing under the lower suspension arms Thumbs Up
I’ll get some photos and thread sorted soon Thumbs Up Bow down Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

It'll fit the car, you need to mod it to fit the jack Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

You don’t. need to drill it all the way through, just deep enough to get the pin back in.
Mine is held on with a galvanised nail, just bent slightly to hold it firmly in place.

Ok, my jack arrived the other day. £34.99 off eBay, brand new inc delivery. Rather than order the metal top a lot have done,
I thought I’d give a rubber one a try first, only £2.50 off eBay and a lot easier to drill Smile Anyway it arrived and got it to fit no problem. Should be kinder on the car too. I then ordered a small plastic tool box off Amazon, £5 delivered. All fits in quite nicely. So all in, brand new jack, new top to fit the FF and a box to keep it in and it all owes me just over £40 Smile Happy with that

I found this in the back of our workshop today, a Weber Hydraulik 5 Ton bottle jack, I am going to file the ends off to have a flat surface and cut a 30mm x 55mm alloy rectangle 11mm thick or so, and weld it on for my L322

this is slightly differnet design to the newer ones, as the warehouse manager told me it's 15 years old to his knowledge

now to find a nice plastic box at home, put a torch in it, and some tools, and a bit of square wood to sit the jack on, and whatever else springs to mind

I've just purchased a brand new 2 stage 2T bottle jack on ebay for £40+ postage - as I couldn't find a Sprinter jack at a reasonable price.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Telescopic-2-To...2749.l2649
The jack arrived this morning and seems good quality and shorter than I realised - ideal for transporting in the car.
I think it could be ideal to be used under the suspension arms - where you don't even need a massive lift to get a wheel / tyre off the ground for removal.
I'll be testing it shortly when the rain stops !

UPDATE : The jack works well, easy to lift a wheel off the ground.
The handle comes in 3 pieces to make the assy very compact. The centre section contains 2 bolts to retain each of the other pieces.
However, the jack top pad is quite small & not ideal to use under the relatively narrow front suspension arms - too easy for the arm to slip off. The pad isn't removable, so not a simple mod to add a RR jacking slot compatible pad.
The low overall height, also means the threaded top piece has to be spun out maybe an inch to minimise "wasted" movement before the wheel starts to lift.
I think I'll be trying to create an adapter for the top pad to improve location on a front suspension arm. Paul,
