Graeme it's still weird the IID doesn't have access to temps for Sensor A and Sensor B. I'll email Pat on that.

I have already received a response from Patrick where he states that Gap have provided live values for all live values implemented by LR for this engine. I have also been advised that Autologic also only shows the 4 exhaust pipe temperature sensors. I wonder if LR forgot to include the EGR temperature sensors considering that the version of the wiring schematic that I obtained from Topix a while ago mislabelled the EGR temperature sensors as a 2nd set of pre and post catalytic converted temperature sensors, corrected by a correction document.

Ah I see. But if there is a sensor on the car sitting out a value there must be a way of seeing it surely?
The EGR unit uses those values to operate.

Sensors etc are only accessible via the OBDII port if the ecu software is programmed to provide the specific data upon request.
It is not impossible that the ecu s/w has been updated to provide that data since its initial version and that tool suppliers aren't aware that the extra data is now available.

ATTEMPTED SENSOR REPLACEMENT:

As far as I have gotten is:

- Removed the cabin air plenum box.
- Removed the battery surround frame,
- and unclipped a few cables.

You might have to get inventive, and get your arm up/down in there with a shorter extension.

I bought my wobble extensions from halfords. I also have a ratchet with an articulated head. That helps to get it in places a fixed one wont go.

You might need something stronger than tea, unless it's Hogs Back T.E.A. that is  Too many toys, not enough time

Hi guys, well spent the last couple of hours since last post trying, dropping a socket somewhere difficult, retrieving it, putting everything back and retreating, having lost the battle.

Mike, no I didn't take a value off the sensor. How would I do that? I'll do it on round two. It's not over!

I was sooooo close, but so far. The pic you posted Mike is a dreamland of space and access. In reality, it's a vertical shaft of space a touch bigger than your arm, even with the bits out that the WM says to take off, you can look in the shaft, or you can have a hand and a tool in the shaft, but not both.

The problem no.1 is the heat shield as mentioned ^^^. Actually, two exhaust heat shields meet at that point, that's why the holes for the sensor are not right, the two heat shields overlap there. There is an 8mm stainless bolt right next to the sensor that kinda joins/holds them down and together, which by some miracle I was able to remove. That allowed me to bend up one shield, but it wouldn't bend enough to let the sensor socket over.

I think I'll have to remove the head shields, much more work and might even be a ramp job. Otherwise get a Dremmel down there (probably no chance actually) to open up the hole. But even if I could get a dremmel extension down there, the chances of shaving the existing sensor makes that risky.

Just thinking aloud, I'll come up with something.... It might be easier to invent a couple of small robots, train them and send them in!

I've taken on a tough one; Craig even farms this job out, another I read about sheared off the sensor in the manifold.

Nino, I think that is the other EGR sensor? The one on the EGR maybe?
Doesn't look at all familiar. Mike's diagram shows correct one.
But those 3D renders are rubbish. Bring back the Haynes manual I say!

Now you know why i don't entertain doing them sir!

FYI JLR main agents book time for this job is 0.8hrs and the probe is £40-£60ish so £130-£180 all done... I cannot compete with that price so send all of mine to our local Main Dealers...
