I have already received a response from Patrick where he states that Gap have provided live values for all live values implemented by LR for this engine. I have also been advised that Autologic also only shows the 4 exhaust pipe temperature sensors. I wonder if LR forgot to include the EGR temperature sensors considering that the version of the wiring schematic that I obtained from Topix a while ago mislabelled the EGR temperature sensors as a 2nd set of pre and post catalytic converted temperature sensors, corrected by a correction document. |

Ah I see. But if there is a sensor on the car sitting out a value there must be a way of seeing it surely?

Sensors etc are only accessible via the OBDII port if the ecu software is programmed to provide the specific data upon request.

Hi Nino, apologies fior he the delay, here it is:
I also got the 6-faced tool as per above discussion. Was cheaper then the JLR one anyway. Tried on the weekend but I've still not got the right tools, had to order a 'wobble' socket extension, I need to articulated extension or two to reach the manifold. I still don't know if I'll be able to break it out, slightly worried it'll be heat-fixed in there.... Will post updates on progress.... Wobble extension example: Cheers, Greg - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 with lots of toys in Stornaway |

Tackling this job today, but as Craig has reported, it's definitely a cow (level 9).
With that stuff out of the way you can get around the back of the engine to unplug the connector (circled): Fine so far and onto the actual sensor. Fo orientation, this is the NS strut tower, the area we are looking at is down where the yellow arrow is pointing: I made up a long reach WD40 spray to spray the sensor nut, left it soak overnight. Here is the sensor, with WD40 pooling up in the top: The WM says do this: Looks so easy in that diagram. (Pic also shows the socket over the sensor). Priobem 1: If you look in my pic there is an exhaust heat shield with a hole for the sensor. This is aligned badly so the special tool (socket) won't go over the nut and fouls on the heat shield. My photos from an and but if it was square-on you'd be able to see he the hole is off centre to the sensor nut. The nut sits just below the shield. I'm trying, on mms away from locating it for 45 mins with no joy. Levering the shield works a bit but I need a wide and very long flat screwdriver. Also the visibility 'tunnel' is so narrow, putting any tool in there blocks your view. Problem 2: Even if I could get the tool over the nut, the angle is pointing at immovable bulkhead because the WM pic doesn't show the tiny access gap between the manifold and the bulkhead. I bought wobble extensions but they won't 'bend' enough, i'd need a 45 degree socket joint or something. So I'm stuck here at the mo. Tea may help. Usually helps anyway. Will report in again later. . I found couple pictures that show the position of the sensor well.:

Hi guys, well spent the last couple of hours since last post trying, dropping a socket somewhere difficult, retrieving it, putting everything back and retreating, having lost the battle.

Nino, I think that is the other EGR sensor? The one on the EGR maybe?

Now you know why i don't entertain doing them sir! FYI JLR main agents book time for this job is 0.8hrs and the probe is £40-£60ish so £130-£180 all done... I cannot compete with that price so send all of mine to our local Main Dealers... |
