Mr P, I asked Tobi@s to sort it out on this forum

http://forum.dashcamtalk.com/threads/mini0...96/page-17

I had to rename the firmware and then place it on the route of the sd card, camera then prompts the up grade, re format the card when loaded onto camera. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

As much as I hate to be a party pooper, I dont like people being in trouble with the law either, so when picking a dashboard cam please remember this when choosing a camera -

The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986

Television sets

109. (1) No person shall drive, or cause or permit to be driven, a motor vehicle on a road, if the driver is in such a position as to be able to see, whether directly or by reflection, a television receiving apparatus or other cinematographic apparatus used to display anything other than information—

(a) about the state of the vehicle or its equipment;

(b) about the location of the vehicle and the road on which it is located;

(c) to assist the driver to see the road adjacent to the vehicle; or

(d) to assist the driver to reach his destination.

(2) In this regulation “television receiving apparatus” means any cathode ray tube carried on a vehicle and on which there can be displayed an image derived from a television broadcast, a recording or a camera or computer. You are either at Le Mans or waiting for Le Mans

Hmmmm 109. 1. c seems to fit nicely with a dashcam display ? - "to see the road adjacent to the vehicle" .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Not seen a cathode ray tube for years. Yes I know the law may be a bit imperfect, but it only takes one plod having a bad day to find yourself in a bit of bother, and as it stands it could be enforced with regards to cameras with screens. You are either at Le Mans or waiting for Le Mans

That's you sorted then Welshdragon Smile Mine has no screen at all, so no room for misinterpretation. There are so many of these cameras on the market now that have screens, and not everyone knows the law. The wording of the law is not accurate, however it does apply. Like I say it only takes one plod who's had a bad day and he spots your camera, sees the screen and decides he needs to put the world to right and use you as an example. Most plod probably wouldn't bother, to mush hassle but there is always one.

Sorry Joe90, "to see the road adjacent to the vehicle" I don't think that would work, most cameras have a viewing angle of approx 170 degrees, most peoples field of vision is greater, plus you can turn you head and look out the side windows. I am not trying to be awkward or anything, it's how the law would probably see it. You are either at Le Mans or waiting for Le Mans

I'm interested in getting one of these too... but i believe (could be wrong) that to hold any weight in court they have to also measure your speed, acceleration, and probably some other nonsense too that the cheaper ones do not..

I was looking at a blackvue too, but at nearly £200 there are other things i'd rather spend that on usually.

http://www.szswill.com - seems good, anyone using?

Save yourself a heap of cash and get one of these. I have 2 of the previous 0801's and they are great. Have GPS and measure G-Force telemetry.

Hard wiring a dash cam.

I intend to hard wire fit a dash cam to my vehicle , but once again my owners hand book bares no relation whats so ever to the actual fitment of the fuses. What I'm trying to find is a fuse that is permanently live even when the vehicle has shut down and gone to sleep. Does anyone know off hand what fuse no would suit my purpose or indeed a list of the vehicle respective fuses.

Your help would be very much appreciated for every time I try fuse by fuse I seem to Confused wake the vehicle up. Confused

I would argue that 1.b. is applicable as well and I bet a good barrister would argue that point quite easily. I have to still install mine with dual camera (facing front and rear). In my case the screen will be hidden from my view but I understand the point. I have the dual view screen of the FFRR as well and that gets around that law as well but also the multi camera option, showing picture in front, rear and on the sides, obviously complies with the law as those cars are road legal in the UK.

It is when you are watching the recording while driving, you could get in trouble but if you see the real time image I don't see a legal problem Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

In fairness I doubt you'd find a cop with enough time to care if your camera has a screen. After all it's only displaying what is on the road ahead so it's not like you'll be watching it like a telly. If you are you may seriously need to get help Laughing 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts
