I HATE that when a car does that. You can't get it to work, try everything nothing works, get help and the bloody problem seems gone !!! AAAARGH. Well I hope that at least they sort out all your small issues as well as the big one (current drain) and lets hope they can do something about the RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).

It might pay to get all your ground points cleaned and "Vaselined" as good grounding can help in avoiding RFI problems (although in vessels/ships there are two "schools" the ones that tie the RFI cable shielding to ground and the ones that don't). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

No way to test that I am aware of, but symptoms are: battery drain, no fans, or fans all the time, or a combination Sad .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Hi Joe, thx for the info. I'll check that. Reg the FSR, the only, maybe apparent symptom is battery drain.
News of the day : the car wasn't used at all yesterday and started like a charm this afternoon (at the garage). They will make alternator tests & others on thursday.

When my FSR went it was so hot after the car was parked for 4 hours it burned my technician, surprised the car didnt catch fire. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

A way to test an FSR is to install an ammeter in the battery earth cable and measure the current drain after the car has gone to sleep and then do the same again having removed fuses 34 and 64.
The difference in the currents measured is the battery current drain thro the FSR.
If it's anything more than a few mA, you need a new FSR.
In operation FSR's generate a considerable amount of heat, hence the cooling rods attached to them. The heat is disipated thro the cooling rods into the inlet air stream for the ac blower fan.
If you operate an FSR without adequate cooling the body and fins will heat up to a temperature easily capable of causing a serious skin burn if held, not recommended.
I've come across them in other vehicles protected by thermal fuse's rated at 220C and seen them burn the thermal fuse out.

Here's the update : got my car back today, and guess what, everything is ok (and has been for the full week). The test bookd didn't give anything
I will carefully look what's happening in the coming days and tell you and conduct the suggested tests when I have time.
Also, I was wondering if the fact that I parked it on a non flat area could consume battery during the night (with susp trying to compensate) ?

tested it, 11.2v, does it mean it's definitely dead? or just that it needs to be recharged?
I still have to restart it to test (again, just in case) that the alternator is operating properly

No it's not dead just needs recharged. Thumbs Up
The air suspension shouldn't affect anything, unless of course the compressor relay is sticking in the on position.

Ok, battery charged, battery is delivering only 14v whatever the rpms (2000, 3000), measured at the positive & negative battery terminations.
Tested on my fathers' 530d, it delivers 14.6.
Next ill do the tests mentioned above.
