if that doesn't work, write to LR direct. My MY2011 is being looked at again this week to have another go at sorting out the problem with a member of the LR "Executive Office" getting involved.
A major mercy I have is that the design of the car to stop the battery going completely flat is working, but the trade off means I get an ineffectual FBH - which when you consider the cost of the unit is not acceptable.
Write a polite letter....they will respond.

No the car has never failed to start, just this irritatin bong, did it at the shoot last week not good PR. Changing dealer is not practical, I live in a rural area, 4 dealers with in an hours drive, 3 are part of same group, the 4th is the furthest away and I have had less than perfect experience of them.
Got home tonight to find recall letter from them. letters not necessarily in the right order

Dixy, you need to put a solar charger in it. I put one in my supercharged after it wouldnt start at a shoot and it's been great.

Point is you shouldn't have to after dropping £70k+.

Sounds like the recall work is going to be done. It should cure the annoying bong. It did with mine....and now the car battery will only bong when it is within a inch of failing to start the engine rather than the country mile it was set to at manufacture.

Am not sure what good a solar trickle charger will do....some people like them, some don't. On a £75K car, it shouldn't need one IMHO.

in that the new design is for the FBH to run for 17 minutes ?
yup - the recall has now fixed it so that you get slightly more than a half cycle going by the old tried and tested cycle times.

some people say that 17 minutes is more than adequate.
some say it is not.
I am in the latter camp.
but LR are not going to change it just for me.

I think the major change they made to the electrics was not the battery, but the installation of a level battery management system.

there are some fortunate people who never experienced any problems with the FBH - so are still on a 30 minute cycle. but one day.....these people will find themselves sitting in a warm cabin, whilst waiting for LR assist to turn up and give them a jump start.

About three minutes of the radio on low volume with the engine off and the damned thing shut down displaying a low battery warning on the info screen.

Car was supposedly confirmed as built post-recall with the latest software/gel battery etc. when the dealer was asked to investigate the previous low battery warnings - very annoying.

Was loading the car to go to the airport and it displayed! Oddly, on the return it was fine after sitting for 10 days!

It's more annoying because an interior light was left on in our Discovery 3 for the best part of the week and it didn't make any difference whatsoever, yet two minutes of Radio 4 shuts the whole thing down in the Range Rover.

It's had a CTEK charger on it all day and still isn't showing as charged ...

Warranty up fairly soon, so possibly the last attempt to get this sorted - whatever the dealer has done previously (apart from say there's nothing wrong with it) hasn't worked, and there appears to be no real pattern to it occurring. Couple of miles, left for a week - no problem. Two hundred miles, left overnight - "Please start engine".

Friend has one a month or so older (albeit Belgian-spec), and his apparently hasn't done it once in 150k km.

OK, I have read all the way through this thread. I often get the "Battery Low - Start Engine" message. It can happen if the internal lights have been on for more than a couple on minutes. When I first got the car 6 months ago, I assumed the battery was on the way out, (it had a LR AGM battery fitted, which I think had been a warranty replacement), so I replaced the battery with a new AGM, but the warning still appears with monotonous regularity.

This is a 2011 TDV8 Vogue, first registered 26 Mar 2011, VIN SALLMAMJ3BA348315, so not within the affected Vin range I think
The IID Tool shows voltage as 14.7 with engine running and 13.0v after engine shut down.

So should I just ignore these warnings, or is there a genuine fault here which needs to be investigated.

BTW there were a number of faults listed by the IID Tool; audio amp, HVAC ventilation, IPC Instrument Pack, PDM Passenger door. I don't know if maybe they have a bearing 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4
