LR just changed the pair on my 65 plate L405AB, didn't even inspect them, seems that in some date ranges they inspect them and in others they just change them - mine was in the change range.

Although my car was due into JLR Slough for the knuckles check, they rang the day before (5/10/23) and said that they were temporarily closing due to a covid outbreak. They are now open again and the earliest booking they offered is 05/12/23, exactly two months later. Not impressed by that although they did suggest that I could go to another dealership (Reading) "and give them a try". I suspect a shortage of parts is a lot to do with this.

My 2016 SDV8 AB has not received the recall, but during the service today they inform me i have cracked knuckles, on both sides, and they'll have to seek approval from JLR to get this paid under the recall.

i have a MY16 car with 2 cracked knuckles, but JLR seem reluctant to replace as my VIN is outside their suggested range!

Have you spoken directly to JLR customer service?

I do believe my dealer is fighting my corner, i have told them i'm not having them replaced until JLR approve the recall, plus i have one of their loan cars, so i'd like to think they are trying, but their car is knackered and therefore i guess they will not miss it, but it made me appreciate my RR.

Mine was registered in November, so just before the VIN range they identify on the recall, but if both are cracked then perhaps they have a bigger problem than they care to admit.

Just curious - has yours been sorted yet? Mine got done yesterday and there seemed to be a few others there for the recall so it looks like there are parts available now. The free "health check" produced a quote for £1300 of work (at £192 per hour ) which I politely declined. |

You'd think the cracks would be consistent with the recall, and therefore hard to argue! |

Reading this and other posts makes me question the wisdom of owning an old Range Rover especially as I can't do my own maintenance any more - too decrepit, me not the car. So its in for its MOT in a couple of weeks time do I ask them to specifically check for these cracks or should they do it anyway. Geoff |

No. The hire vehicle was collected yesterday, so I have no wheels. I called Marshall Land Rover to see if this means my car is done; they promised to call me back. They have yet to do so. Chris. L405 - 4.4SDV8 Vogue P38 - 4.6V8 HSE Land Rover series IIA V8 |
