@Gremlin500: What I meant was that are there any members around that knew they had completely intact/sound knuckles in the first place without any visible damage after becoming aware of this feature, but noticed them failing later on. It is a fault which you have to look out for, until the part fails completely. Based on the posts in this thread the failures seem to have happened ”under cover” over time.

OK thank you just meaning to clarify things, @4RRS you say “in minute detail” but was that with a proper crack testing kit, or just visual? It’s important to qualify these things when death can be the result. The dye penetrant and reactive indicator can reveal microscpic detail absolutely invisible to the human eye, in a night-and-day difference kind of way.

Sorry, i should have been clearer, I carried out the N759 recall as per the v2. JLR document and found no cracks at the time. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division. |

Hmmmmm, makes you wonder exactly how JLR Dealers check the knuckles?

I guess burying my head in the sand "safe" in the knowledge that my car was not in the affected VIN range and was too old ('63) is not enough anymore if '13's are now turning up with cracks!

Sometimes recovery is impossible, no matter where you live! 💀⚰️🪦 “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that? |

On a lighter note, can I nag everyone about ALWAYS wearing eye protection when using a wire brush (including handheld) you don’t want even a tiny bit of wire embedded in your eyeball, or your skin for that matter, so wear some tough gloves when prepping for the test!

Has anyone had the “retaining bracket” fix applied as part of the recall? I’m keen to see how this is meant to prevent catastrophic failure. |

2017MY. I ve had a call with the dealer and he told me that “it’s an aluminium part and aluminium parts break. It’s normal…” I tried to keep calm…. If i try to push the dealer for a repair, it’s definitely gonna take time and i cant have the car stationary for weeks. I ‘ve already ordered the part and hopefully i will receive it today to replace the broken knuckle. However, i will let them know and will also do the test for the left one which has no visible signs. |

I don’t think so as yet, but nothing wrong with keeping an eye on them.
