Contact DVSA if outside JLR VIN range

If no joy, replace at your expense, but keep proof of repair incase recall gets extended Thumbs Up

So typical this car crash of a company is eschewing it's responsibilities and corner cutting.\

Father in Law's iPace Jag is in the dealer more than his drive. anyone know if the 460 is any better, reliability wise? My L322(s) were mostly great. The L405 seems to be made out of recycled cheese by the YTS. Formerly happymadison1978

Thanks for posting the picture, very interesting to see the nub of aluminium below left of the pinch joint.
I wonder if this increase in material thickness in this area is a stress reduction measure somehow?
I suppose it could just be for lifting/handling/rotating the component in production/assembly, but why not the same as before? It has to be there for a reason……. Whistle

EDIT: Doh! I need new glasses, lol! It’s the GROOVE, my old eyes made a 3D reversal, lol!

Please ignore, I’ll ring the Opticians shortly……….. Sniggering “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Fingers crossed that this newly released recall N759 actually applies widely enough, and that those that have repaired this out-of-pocket will get compensated. JLR-USA have been appalling about this whole situation. The letters I've got from them have been ridiculously condescending and unhelpful.

I’ve only had my vehicle a few weeks and haven’t driven it much but I did a rudimentary check and they seem okay. Today I called to a JLR dealer and they confirmed it was inspected in November last year but she couldn’t tell if anything was done. I’m sure I read somewhere that a culprit is over tightening and the latest JLR technical bulletin has a new torque setting. Does anyone know what this is or maybe would it be a good idea just to back off the nut by 1/8 of a turn?

Any evidence of “tampering” will be an excuse later for a get-out clause by JLR.

If you must do anything, go get an aerosol weld crack-testing kit as others have done on here, and check for invisible cracks yourself for peace of mind. Thumbs Up

(AFAIK, the over-tightening thing could just be a much-perpetuated internet myth, same with the galvanic corrosion theory, I’m more inclined to believe its down to faulty components/poor castings). “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Damn! All good points. It would be excellent though if the over tightening thing could be qualified in or out 100% as it might make the made-of-cheese knuckles safer. We need an insider on the forum 😁

Even if over-tightening were a thing, loosening may do nothing if the metal has already been stressed beyond its elastic limits, the damage would then already be there, ticking away……. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

United States 2015 Range Rover 5.0 SC V8 Fuji White

Appears US recall will not be announced until 3rd January 2025 with over 16,759 vehicles affected. Apparently waiting for parts.
Not sure whether that’s the bungee cord and piece of tin to hold the front wheel assembly like the F1 wheel tether during a big wreck or replace knuckles for both sides. Presume they will have to do bushings and hardware as well.
Most concerning is fact vehicles with this recall cannot be sold by dealers until repaired. May make trading in a bit of a hassle..
Until then drive carefully keep your eyes peeled for stray wheels and suspension parts overtaking you on freeway and really think about above when you attempt to exploit the 525 hp available in a supercharged version. Nothing more embarrassing after you have humbled a crotch rocket than to have your wheels fall off before they pass you on the side of the road.

Mine failed catastrophically on Sunday, thank god I was just turning around and not at motorway speed (I’d just done a 280 mile run)
My L405 is a 2015 I don’t have contacted Land Rover and they have told me it is not included in the recall and will do no more.

My main concern here is that they should broaden the recall as this is a serious safety concern - I am going to try and raise some awareness on social media.

I have also reported this to the DVSA
