United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Waitomo Grey

[quote="Extol"]This information available from the land rover N759 document, which is about the cracking knuckles.
I have exhausted all the avenues, Land Rover would not fix these issues. don't think even DVSA is interested.

[Certain 2014-2016[/b] Model Year Range Rover vehicles. Period 1 Range Rover SALGA2EE2EA194746 to SALGA2KE1FA229699(Specific vehicles within
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
ranges) Period 2 Range Rover SALGA2EE3GA264015 toSALGA2KE3GA286861 (Specific vehicles within
VIN

LR state that their recall 2014-2016 means 2014 & 2016...not 2015 which personally i find odd.
My vin SALGA2JE falls within SALGA2EE & SALGA2KE but is not covered.
My knuckle failure is exactly the same..LR pushed the responsibility onto Ext Warranty who resisted but eventually paid out. I paid to replace the NS for peace of mind & had it x-rayed, to be found fine.
DVSA are currently engaged with the dealer.

If you look at the vin range, EA is model year 2014, FA is 2015 and GA is 2016, so how they can say 2015 is excluded is beyond me. Granted its certain vin ranges within each year, but is definitely over the 3 Model Years. My GA vin was some way lower than the start vin for 2016, but both knuckles were done under goodwill. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

No - mine failed in a straight line. Philip’s comment re they seem to fail at low speed is I suggest incorrect, just that those that have failed at high speed have ended up in such a mess that the cause has not been identifiable as a knuckle joint failure whilst they’re picking the pieces out of the tarmac, motorway bridge, ditch or other vehicle.

I know of a fatality locally where one veered off the road, which, knowing where it happened, seemed a bit odd.

Sent mine back in at Sytner LR in Cov (2015 vin SALGA3JEXGA27**** so seems to be in the middle of Period 2), both knuckles checked but not replaced, was assuming they would just do them as a matter of course but will keep an eye on them going forward.

Without reading back, what do you think the recourse would be if they developed cracks in the future, I'm assuming as they were checked now (and are seemingly ok), their hands will be washed of it?

The fault is caused by a mix - production corner cutting &/or over torqued when fitted.
If they've been inspected i think you're good to go but as with all of us - the product faith is somewhat questioned in the back of your mind when barreling down the road solo or with family onboard...
Common sense says - keep an eye on them.
As for washing their hands - it appears LR wish to deny any accountability at many stages, so probably so.

Reply From JLR with regards to the cracked knuckles

I finally had the reply from Land Rover saying, the below.

"the works cannot be completed under the campaign code as this is not applicable to your vehicle.

We are sorry that this response is not what your looking for, we can only advise that if you remain unhappy that you can seek 3rd party advise"

so looks like I will be doing this my by self. The more I deal with JLR the more I start disliking my car, before I loose the last few strands of hair on my head I will fix this my self. They know we give up and won't waste our time, so its a win for them until they kill some one.

It's disgusting the way they are shrugging this off as it's clearly not limited to the VIN ranges that they have supposedly identified. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather
2007 Range Rover Supercharged in Java Black with Ivory Leather
2012 Range Rover 5.0 SC Autobiography in Indus Silver with Jet/Ivory Interior

The Model year identifier is digit 10 of your vin (D=2013, E=2014 etc.) and digit 11 will always be A for Solihull plant build, so to summarize the last eight digits will be model year, plant build and then 6 unique numbers for production build number (so FA000001 would be 2015 model year, first of the production line).

Your vin starting SALGA3 breaks down to SAL (Landorver world identifier) G (Range Rover model) A (class standard) 3 (Long Wheel base).

You need to look at the last eight digits of your vin and compare with the affected range.
