A massive thank you to everyone on here for sharing all the info and pushing JLR. Seeing the recall has made my month.
I've just sent an email to JLR with all my invoices and chapter and verse, and await reimbursement from them for the work done. Who knows if they will pay up for the recovery costs of £600 in addition?
I will keep you posted.

Just an update:
JLR have paid up all repair costs for both knuckle replacements, and have confirmed that they will also reimburse the £600 recovery transport costs as well. Grange Swindon were very helpful following the recall, having initially said they wouldn’t even book an inspection appointment until the new parts were in stock which could be months. When I gave them receipts from my independent LR specialist confirming the new knuckles were genuine LR parts, and copies of my emails to JLR throughout the pre-recall process, Grange realised they could process the recall claim immediately. So I didn’t even need to take the RR into them for an inspection.
Moral of my story is keep pushing JLR.
All a bit academic now as the crank shaft bust last week and it needs a new engine now!!!!! Any advice on that gratefully received.

Thanks Kot. I suspect it is well out of JLR warranty so very unlikely to get any joy there this time. Worth a cheeky ask though.

Our range rover went in today for the recall and when they were doing the job they damaged the lower suspension on one side. We are now waiting for the new part which is on back order.
We have been given a new velar as a loan car. Do not know how long for the repair now.

I've just sent yet another letter to JLR-US and Global Customer service, having had the cracked knuckle on my 2014 replaced before it failed. The batch of the removed knuckle falls within the batch number for replacement. I've again told them I expect a safety recall to be issued and that I'll be reimbursed...

Mines a 2013 L405 AB just passed its MOT and I took a photo from this site and asked them to make extra sure the knuckle wasn't cracked - all good. Geoff

Try ringing JLR customer services with the VIN and they should be able to confirm if it needs the recall.

This scenario is a nightmare its like a ticking time bomb as if your just waiting for something bad to happen JLR should recall all vehicles to give customers a peace of mind as this does not give me any confidence whatsoever now driving my car just in case this knuckle fails is shouldn't be a recall on just a certain Vin range as there is obviously a bigger problem at play. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

Mine was booked in today … said i would wait when booking it in at the time, but on the day had the kid who was ill, so left it with them and went to a pals house round the corner. Whilst on the way back at the end of the day, they phoned and said they’d sheared bolts and the driveshaft would now need replaced which needed ordered. Sent me home in a new defender … so time will tell.

Annoying as I’d just drain/filled the front diff ! Rolling with laughter

( as for the defender … nice but a little under whelming … it ain’t no full fat ) V8 or else ...

So, after a two month delay, the big day arrived and I took my car along to JLR for the front knuckle safety recall check.
I was informed they would also carry out a F.O.C. safety check on the vehicle which immediately smacked
of some of the tyre company tactics but I thought that while they had the car they might as well have a look round.
After almost three hours the receptionist produced a piece of paper with a list of items checked and declared a clean bill of health. That was a relief as I had heard all sorts of rumours about parts shortages, should they have needed replacing. I asked where I could find the car outside and she said "Ah, they appear to have lost the keys but I'll chase them again for you".
Eventually, the receptionist put her coat on and disappeared to return 5 minutes later with my car but in the meantime I had looked at the Invoice she had given me.
My name, the vehicle details and the mileage were all incorrect but she eventually sorted things.

Recall from Vertu

Hi, new to this forum after googling this recall and it seems like some of you have had quite a journey with this topic. Made contact with the dealer following a broken bonnet catch which needs fixing - they then said 'was I aware of a recall on the vehicle?' errr no..... always serviced at dealer and they have my email, phone no etc so not sure which crystal ball I should've been using . hopefully its going in to be dealt with as soon as they get the parts in the next few weeks. Looks like I'm lucky to have been told about this.
