Handbrake
Parts- Also ordered a new fitting kit
New versus Old-
Whilst in there I cleaned everything up and removed the rust off the inside of the discs & calipers. I removed and refitted the pads too and serviced the sliders in the calipers with fresh grease. The pads and discs are fairly recent with plenty of life left in them so no worries there. Pistons all good as were the seals. Just cleaned up the edge of the pistons to remove some light surface marks.
Worst part of the job was getting the top spring slotted into its hole. Its very tough so I sacrificed an very old long screwdriver and cut a slot in it with my Dremel. Using this I placed the spring in the slot and then pushed it over the hole whilst using another small screwdriver to push it home. Tough but this made it easier.
New shoes fitted:
Refitted discs, calipers/carriers and then adjusted up - took a little time but now have a rock solid handbrake on '4 clicks' of the handbrake instead of a very 'un-grippy' handbrake on '8 clicks'. If I'd had more time I would've painted the back plates but that can wait for now - I cleaned them and are in good condition. When I got the SC it had an additional camera fitted to the back alongside the dashcam mounted on the front windscreen. The original reversing camera didn't work anyway - it just showed a cloudy image on the screen. So it was time to remove the additional camera and look at fixing the existing one...
Removed the plastic covers.... the words 'crows nest' spring to mind -
Looking at the wiring and plugs - I haven't seen Scotch Locks since the days of my XR2 ! - I think I need the 'early type' camera sold by PowerfullUK. I also need the plastic cover around the camera as that is missing, unless it comes with the new one but they aren't in stock so I'm stumped for now. I removed all the old wiring and generally tidied it up. Ebay / breakers will be my next stop I think... ....Whilst in the boot I had a look at all the electrikary behind the panels and noticed this -
which was explained to me in this thread - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63621.html So I removed it and opened it up with the aim of maybe cleaning it up and getting it to work -
But alas, after a good cleanup with Contact Cleaner it didn't work - no Bluetooth, All my cars entertainment stopped working when I plugged it in to, so I removed the MOST cable and after buying a proper plug on Amazon put it back to as it was so at least the head unit works. Connector - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09P2S...&psc=1 Proper Plug -
I start my search for a replacement, upgraded Bluetooth module by Ford as fitted to later Land Rovers... Thanks ![]() Work and Jubilee have got in the way but managed a couple of very small jobs lately.... Polished my tips! Before: After: I used Wire Wool to gentle scrub the scum off with a little water to lubricate it. Then some fine Aerospace wool which has polish in it to buff them up - this was 'liberated' from Monarch Aircraft Engineering many, many moons ago. ....and added this which I found after I ordered it '3 L322's ago' ![]() 2005 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 Supercharged V8 Follow my 4.2 Supercharged antics - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63354.html https://www.instagram.com/l322_supercharged/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8ChHNSdscnJarKjBLd_IAg https://www.youtube.com/@ChallengingClassics Last edited by Superspoons on 8th Jun 2022 1:45pm. Polishing the exhaust tips makes a big difference to the appearance of the car IMO.

Popped off to Kwik Fit for a pressure test (free) as my air con just wasn't really cold at all.

After my recent issue with the suspension dropping, see here https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63860.html, ` I had the following fault reported -
On the 4.2 SC it was an easy swap over. The clips at the bottom of the unit flex just enough to push up and pop the old unit out. Its located on the right hand side of the radiator, attached to the cowling -
just pull it out, swap the connector over, give it a squirt of contact cleaner and your done -
Plugged in the IID Tool, rescanned and viola, code gone. Not sure I'll notice anything different to be honest but its one less code and satisfies my code OCD ![]() Next is to look into that hole in the cowling with the red wire - looks like a broken plastic holder or something. That's interesting to see where that box should be mounted to as mine was tucked up behind the power steering reservoir when I got the car and I've never really spent much time looking to see where it goes!

So, after unearthing a sea of wires and scotch locks a few months ago I decided I'd bite the bullet and buy a new reversing camera from PowerfulUK. My L322 needed the earlier one so I placed an order on Wednesday morning and it arrived via DHL Thursday lunchtime.
2) Unplug the connectors for the camera and spoiler brake light 3) Undo the three 8mm bolts holding the spoiler in place and slide it towards the back then lift off 4) Remove the old camera & cables 5) Fit the new one and route the cables 6) Place the spoiler back on the tailgate and secure the grommets 7) Connect the Brake light and Camera connectors up 8 Screw it back down with the 8mm bolts 9) Replace the plastic cover Took about 30mins and very pleased with the camera quality and picture. Original Camera - cover missing an no picture from it -
