I did mine’s yesterday - battery went all of a sudden and Halfords who I booked to do the work, refused to touch it!

Anyway, found this and many thanks to OP for the help - it was easy, apart from the special tool needed for the two bots...

So, I used a 1/4” socket set and knuckle and took out the 10mm nut holding the electronics and was able to lift the unit out, after disconnecting the top connector.

Getting it back in, I used a little sausage of blue-tac to hold the nut in the socket until it was engaged on the thread....

Had to do mine recently, this thread definitely helped, thanks all!

I put in an Exide AGM from Tayna (my goto battery supplier - always well priced, and fast delivery), I'm surprised at how small the batteries are on these beasts, and also how awkward they make it to get to them! Couldn't have been made harder if they'd tried.
A very straightforward job though, just more disassembly than you'd expect, and without this guide I'd have been stuck not having the right security bit to hand to do the ECU. That would have meant taking another few days to get it done.

The new battery programming was easy enough in IID, and the FBH heater works. Better than that, the car now starts without jumping if it's been left for more than a day Very Happy I remain amazed at what my portable pocket sized LiPo jump pack can start. It gets a bit warm with an old Defender diesel that is a poor starter, but didn't even break a sweat on my 4.4. TDV8.

AGM were fitted by dealers following a lot of issues with non AGM original fit batteries. Most of us are now on AGM. Just replace yours with AGM when the time comes Thumbs Up

so my 2011 4.4TDV8 currently has a 95aH / 850 (branded JLR with a small Varta Logo) battery which needs replacement.

Speaking to a main dealer parts guy, he is offering a 90Ah / 850.
Being from. main dealer it is branded JLR, this one with a small Exide Logo.

I have queried that it is 5A less but he has put my VIN in and he says the 90Ah / 850 is correct.
It's coded GX73-10655-BC

He even showed me a 4.4SDV8's battery in-situ on a 2019 and it is indeed 90Ah / 850.

Thoughts?

. Cheers, Greg

Greg,
I changed mine a couple of years ago for this one....
2 reasons...
It was the cheapest with free next day delivery to your door.
It comes with a 5 year Warranty.

It is 95 Ah.

Greg - I queried the same with Dan when I ordered my new battery from Duckworths and received the 90AH Excide product code GX73-10655-BC.

Dan's response was that this was the new revised replacement.

Remove this plate by undoing the two 5 point Torx Security Screws. (You probably won't have a tool for this, but they are available on Ebay.)

does anyone know the size (or a link) to the correct 5-point Torx Security Screws for the ECU ?

Cheers,
