My system works perfectly well in tandem with the ACM system. I have retained the cd player though don't use it. With the ACM I have an old iPod 4 which lives in the glove box.

It is easy to switch from Car Play to the iPod and back. Once phone is attached all that is needed to switch is to toggle the cd and aux buttons on the audio screen. Also convenient if I don't want to plug in the phone.

Will, I have the original reversing camera and it comes on when reverse is selected with either the original or the Navtool running so it may be it will work when you install the camera. John

Glad the NavTool product worked for you. I’m happy with it so far. Really a good option for the 2006-2009 FFRR as you can connect everything in the left rear compartment and not take out the head unit. Also has full touch screen control with voice control for phone calls and to retrieve verbal text and What’s App messages. I have been playing with the idea of using the MOST and electric connections from my CD changer for CarPlay audio. FWIW I got the CDC out by manipulating a large flat blade screwdriver to pop the side bolts out, avoiding having to disassemble the glove box. Spoke with the guy at NavTV about their MOST-AUX-RR product. It may be more $ and trouble than it’s worth, as it would be necessary to connect 3 electrical wires in addition to the MOST fiber optic: red (always on) positive, black (ground) and blue (switched positive). The first 2 wires are already there, waiting to be connected from the CDC. However, the blue wire is needed to toggle the system on and off. Not sure I wanted to spend another $350 to be able to listen to CarPlay via the CD button vs the AUX button, but it seems feasible. In the meantime my CD button is just greyed out. Will probably connect a USB port with those available + and - wires in the upper glovebox.

Disassembling the glove box to Remove the CDC was no fun for me lol and I must have jostled it during reassembly as now it won’t eject or play. I think the magazine is bad but I’ll have to figure out a way to get it to eject so I can get the cds out. Re: navtool with MOST connection sounds interesting. Despite the minor issues I’ve had, still liking the upgrade!

Yes! You were right re the navtool pairs up nicely with ACM/Logic 7 system! Now that I’m back commuting to work I hope to get some time to finish up the camera install.

Hi there, newbie here looking for advice.

I’ve just taken on an 09 vogue and this thing looks like just what I need.

Is it still available as I’ve seen another thread about a unit from Australia that, to be honest, looks like too much of a pain in the arse to bother with.

If the unit in this thread is still available then it looks pretty straightforward to fit (my other vehicle is a defender, so I can lay my hands on a few tools!).

Any feedback much appreciated.

Cheers

Jools

Check out the following link. Should be available. I would inquire about shipping as this company is based in USA

You need AUX for the audio.. possible to use HDMI from the unit but for the likes of Carplay use AUX. John

Right then, my Navtool has arrived and I’m just ordering the additional cables from the bay.

One stupid question, once I have run the hdmi and usb extensions to the cubby box, what do I plug into them?

Does my iPhone need to be connected to the usb extension via a lightning for car play to work?

Cheers

Jools

The USB extension plugs into your phone via a lightning adapter such as from your mains charger. The HDMI extension can also be plugged into your phone (not at the same time Rolling with laughter ) with an HDMI to lightning adapter. You can also plug it into any HDMI device such as, IIRC , Firestick.

I have tried the HDMI on my phone to see if it works but currently only use the USB as it does what I want.

Don't forget to switch your audioto AUX when using the system.

Right, got you thanks.

So if I’m attaching a lightning my phone and to the usb extension, is there any reason why I can’t just run a lightning from the unit In the boot to the cubby? Maybe that’s a question for Navtool.

I must admit, this wiring and technology is a bit daunting when you are used to mucking about in a defender Shocked

If you can get a long enough one it would be as good if not better as you wouldn't have a join. John

Thanks, that’s what I thought, perhaps the usb gives flexibility. I’ll check with Navtool when I update the unit software.

Will report back on the install when I get round to it.

The reason I would recommend running a USB extension to the centre console is that lightning cables are notorious for wearing out with regular use.

It's much easier to just plug a new one into the socket under the console rather that run a new cable back to the boot, especially as there is room under the back to get your hand in and replace it without taking anything apart.

It’s a good point, I’ve bought a decent quality flat usb cable so I think I’ll just fit that - also won’t need to change it next time apple change their plug design!

Morning all, I have a clear day ahead of me so it’s time to fit the Navtool.

While I’m messing about in the boot, can anyone tell me the route into the cubby box, I.e. is there a hole beneath the carpet somewhere or should I come straight from the boot, under the carpet and make a hole somewhere?

Much obliged

Jools
