I would go AGM, I think it makes a huge difference on charging in the short term so you can either get a GAP tool or get your local Indy/dealer to set it for you at a later convenient date. The AGM’s are better.

I treat batteries as a service item and decided to change the AGM battery on my 2011 TDV8. There was no sign of a problem but as we were approaching winter and it was at least 4 years old and possibly 8 years old it was a precautionary thing. The battery that I removed went onto my 2007 TDV8. I’ve known this car for years and it did sometimes suffer from a flat battery when used for short trips despite having had a new alternator and battery. So far this (admittedly mild) winter it has never failed to start.

Hi, I have an 8-month-old AGM battery for sale which has been checked by GSF and is perfect when I tried to return it today?

Hi all, just for info, bought my 07 4.4 petrol jag engined car in 2014, a few weeks ago the battery had a sudden death experience, just in front of my new indy. They took it out and it was an AGM OEM LR. Never had a problem with it and replaced it with a Varta AGM that has exactly the same dimensions. Turned the steering wheel from one side to the other and it works like a doll. 3 year waranty on the battery at a total cost of 240 euro fitting included. |

Rightly or wrongly, I went with a non AGM Bosch 5-013 (their 019) in the end (I had ordered it and picked up yesterday afternoon before I saw your comments Baltic & Bushy).

Just keep your receipt and keep the boot electronics dry including the silly rear wiper setup and you will be ok. I have changed a few batteries under warranty and if I were the manufacture I would give range rovers a wide berth!

I'm the OP on this thread. Just feeding back with the final instalment of this battery's life... The AGM battery I fitted just over 3 1/2 years ago has reached the point where it is becoming unreliable so I've decided to swap it (for another AGM battery obviously!).
