Restricted Performance? Could this be the culprit? - FIXED!

As per my other post, been getting the Restricted Performance message coming up and only fault on the GAP IID is a high circuit egr code, which looks to be a red herring

Anyway, advice on here suggests an Restricted Performance error with no fault code is likely to be an air leak, and likely to be one of the four hoses under the engine cover.

So took the engine cover off just now and no signs of a split on them, so soot deposits etc. However the plastic connector that feeds to the main hose at the front, has a sensor plugged into it, that has what looks like a carbon build up around the clip.

Could this be the leak I’m looking for? If so how easy is that part to change and where best to get it from. I’m panicking a bit as I’m supposed to be taking some family down to see my elderly Dad in Cornwall over Xmas and this could scupper things

I think Greg (GGDR) had exact same issue. Search his threads maybe. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Also get those flimsy original 4 hoses replaced for the thicker ones

Indeed looks same.

Mine took a while to find, so jump to the end:
https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic52807.html

Or to save you reading the metal circle lost it's mojo and the intercooler to throttle body pipe was leaking (at the throttle body joint). Right where your soot is.

Soot = air leak thanks to the EGR. Separate topic but makes me think air filters are a bit pointless theory than keeping leaves and sand out.

The clip is not available separately so to save £200-odd quid, I bent it a bit more inwards and it's been a diamond since.

Thumbs Up

.. Cheers, Greg

Oh right, so you had the same issue and it turned out to be a weak clip? But you can’t get a replacement clip?

Just added a video to the original post. Should it have this much movement?

This is why I should leave this stuff to the experts. Just removed that part to check for splits, cleaned it up, refitted and managed to break a water hose / clip. Now I’ve stranded the car. Ffs!

Any idea where I can get this from? Part of the plastic section is snapped off inside the pipe so not sure how I’ll get that out and if I’ll need a new pipe section too.

Well you're not the first, there are quite a few posts - I've not had the misfortutre but I think others have fixed it with a stent

. Cheers, Greg

That part broken is only available with the hoses attached and is about £80, You may be able to get one from a breaker.

If you give me a few minutes I'll try and find the paperwork with the part number if I haven't binned it by mistake. Cheers

Would be great if you have. I can't believe this, this is the worst time for this to happen. I only had a look myself as I need the car back asap and hoped to find a straight forward fix. Now I can't even start the car let alone take it to a specialist. It is booked it to have a starter fitted on Friday too (another issue I've had)

I'm sure you can stent it to get you going for a day or two.

Search stent

Also here: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic48509.html?highlight=stent Cheers, Greg

Part number on the invoice from Duckworth's is

LLR029140 but double check with the suppliers.

The rigid plastic hose that fits to that stub goes to a fitting with one of those press the blue tab in to remove type things, which is my technical term for quick release connectors. Whistle I would be careful removing as if you break that other end, then its the housing etc next. It may be an idea to source a pliable rather than rigid pipe of the same size to fit and use a couple of hose clips.

Let us know later today if you have sourced one. Perhaps Advanced Factors, site sponsor could assist on a Saturday afternoon. Cheers
Richard
