Stent it as a short term fix and check it regularly.
Have the whole hose replaced ASAP. I had mine replaced as part of my preventative maintenance plan as it’s a very well known weak point Big Cry Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Tried cheap fix, couldn’t get the f type connector in. So need to revert to oem part

Thanks for posting that invoice. Which part do I need? The top one?

Found one here, £85 inc delivery by Tuesday

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-TDV...3243958714

I'm sitting here SOOOOOOO p!ssed off right now. I'm so busy with work next week. I don't know when I'll have a chance to fit this, and to be honest I'm not sure I want to try after today shenanigans. But I can't move it so no choice really. And then I've still got the original problem to try to work out. Shortest ever honeymoon period with a car Big Cry

It's quite easy to fit, don't bother trying to remove the broken part of the fitting, remove the hoses etc complete tomorrow. You can see where the part fits from the picture in the suppliers parts section and follow that through on the car. You're ready to go and it will take 30 minutes, which should include refilling whatever came out. In fact if you fill the system as far a possible you'll be ahead of the game.

Be CAREFUL with the right angle connector

No, appreciated. My mechanical skills are limited to say the least. I should have left it alone, it's now cost me £85 plus a load of aggravation.

That right angle connector at the back of the engine? That does look flimsy. Is it easy enough to swap over?

And you think it is definitely better to swap the whole thing out rather than just the broken part? On first glance, the broken bit looks more easily accessible? The main hose seems to curl right under somewhere?

My connector broke whilst driving back in May. I managed to swap the pipes with the new part. Didn’t take that long.

I know you’re Censored ed off, but at least you have also had this known issue too....and aren’t miles from home.

Keep going!

Try cleaning the inlet manifold pressure sensor, the sensor you can easily get to on the top of the big plastic donut manifold. They can fill up with crud and read wrong hence you get a low pressure reading. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I need it right now! Smile

Ref cleaning that sensor, I saw that mentioned on another thread and cleaned it earlier, it was completely blocked. Just couldn’t test whether it fixed the problem as I broke the water pipe :/

Anyway ordered that one on EBay, should be here Tuesday. I’ve also ordered 4 Samco silicon connectors, figuredneven if mine aren’t split and the cause, it’ll only be a matter of time.

The right angle connector is fairly simple to remove, but if you have ANY worry, then you could carefully cut the hard plastice pipe off that connector and remove the broken piece from the other end, Then use a suitable piece of pipe from a car parts shop to fit in its place, secured with a couple of hose clips. That would let you simply change out the connetion piece that was broken.

That is, of course if Dr Rob's suggestion of the AA doesn't work. Cheers
Richard

Yes did it last night under torch light! But yes went all ok. Car is booked in to a garage to have a new starter fitted and a smoke test, so hopefully will get an idea on what the issue is by the end of the week
