Thumbs Up
PS
Don’t be surprised if when you remove the charging unit you don’t have a fan unit fitted on the back.
They stopped fitting the fan sometime during late 2011 early 2012.
Mine is a a May 2011 and had the fan fitted , but Nino & others with 2012 models had no fan.

Great guide - just done it myself.

The anti-tamper security bolt above the ECU is undone with a TS30 bit (Sometimes called pentalobe).

DrRob, I removed negative first then the positive. When reinstalling I did positive first. Just remember to wait the 120secs after turning off ignition.
The only issue after battery change I had was that my automatic window controls became manual only, but as I read in this forum, put them down, then up. Once fully up, hold the up button 'til you hear a solenoid "click" and that's them fixed! I had to do it for each window in turn.

Just done this - great guide thanks.

The ECU bracket is different on mine (2012) with just one "pentalobe" bolt lower down on the right hand side.

My battery clamps were a bit corroded in and needed some Plusgas to loosen.
My only worry is that the IID tool gave an E7 error when I tried to set a new battery so that process failed. Anyone know what E7 means??

Otherwise car seems to be working fine. Mike - MPx

Sorry I don’t know what E7 error is, but someone might enlighten us soon.

You can check the Battery voltage , charging rate , state of charge etc.on your iid in live values.
If you get 82% + charged after a decent run then it will be fine.
Cheers

E7 is a general communication error (IIRC) -- I'd keep trying if I were you Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks guys. Had a run into Exeter today ~80 mile round trip. Found I needed to redo the auto on all of the windows. Lost the trip settings on the dash as well as date/time but obviously they're trivial to reset.

Tried again with the IID tool when I got home and the new battery process worked fine first time. However on live values the voltage was only 12.4 which I thought low, the charge % was at 67, and the battery type was "unknown" (which may account for the low charge % estimate?). Its a Halfrauds supplied Yuasa 900A 100AH supposedly for the Fatty but its not on the list that comes up on the IID tool. Anyway, happy enough for now as all seems to be working fine. To be fair it was all working on the old (LR) battery but I've had a few odd glitches in bad weather with everything switched on so accepted that it may have been getting tired.

Edited my post above to put in pics to show the later smaller ECU bracket bolt.

Thanks again for your help. Mike - MPx

That's not an AGM, I'm running the same battery as it's what comes up in the list for the car from Halfords, and it has a 5 year guarantee.

So having not understood I needed an AGM I decided that I'd give this a go, fully expecting to be changing it!! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

You probably should research it a bit more but seem to recall something about that the agms charge at a higher voltage that can cause problems for older battery’s. May also invalidate your warranty. I would take it back to Halfords and demand the right battery for your vehicle. Current: RR L322 2010

I scoured the internet for the Best Buy and bought this one.

5 year warranty and free next day delivery.
It is nearly 12 months since now, but I have just checked and it is still the same price.
Assuming you can get a refund one the one you bought.
