Delayed Air Con

Ever since I had this one, there seems to be a delay with the cold air coming out the vents from startup..... everything is set correct and working normal, it's fully gassed and works brill, but it can take 5 or so mins for cold to come out. It's like something opens up late....

I thought it might be a bit delayed due to keeping initial emissions down, but now I don't think it's right...

Any thoughts? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Mine is the same pal on start up it blows cool and takes like you say 5 mins or so to atart chilling after 10-15 its ice cold 👍

My guess is your flaps are sticky!! Shocked

There appears to be an amount of "gunk" which builds up over time and makes it difficult for the motors to open the flaps quickly and allow the cold air through.

If you try pressing the face vent button and seeing if that allows air through straight away or not, that should tell you the extent of the problem. Mine are slightly delayed at the moment which points to dirt build up in the flaps.

The cause could be the known problem of a sticky refrigerant control valve (RCV) in the a/c compressor.
LTB00693v3 - compressor slow to start cooling (5/10 mins), low pressure high side or high pressure low side.

Do you have access to this TSB? I think my RR refrigerant control valve is sticky and needs replacing RR L322 TDV8 4.4 SE 2019 to present

Mine does the same I think.

I basically get no air at all on a really hot day for a couple of mins.

I think what it could be is that until the air is blowing colder than the inside temp it doesn’t blow anything as it would be making the cabin hotter......
On hot days it’s a pain. Doesn’t seem to make a difference what vent settings the buttons are on😂 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Oh I get air....full blast....all hot from outside....forced at you..... then after a while it just goes icy cold and it’s fine...until you turn off, then it’ll either do the same again or be ok.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Aha. Interesting thread. Mine is doing exactly this, except that sometimes it doesn't ever blow cold, which is a bit annoying in the current weather.

Funnily enough we've just noticed that ours does this.
Short journeys and it just blows warm air but the longer it's driven the colder it gets.

Will have to look into this.

Non-English versions of the TSB can be found on the net which show the repair kit part number for the 4.4 TDV8 in the L322 is LR061463 with a repair time of 3.6 hours. This kit and LR061464 appear to cover all LRs affected. The problematic valve also occurs in many other brand vehicles.

IIRC from wherever it was that I read about the fault that at least one 4.4 TDV8 L322 was repaired with the compressor in-situ.
