Just a heads up. I have finally cracked the Bluetooth ULFs and can upgrade them to Gen 13 versions. Should be ready in a few weeks, just need to do some thorough tests. barisahan@gmail.com |

I have just completed this retrofit. Old thread but plenty of information that is just spot on. I have a 2002 ffrr Vogue , 4.4V8. It was prewired with the 54pin plug and Bluetooth antenna cable in the rear and microphone wiring in the roof. Was also fitted with R/T and voice buttons on the wheel. No phone kit in console. I purchased “MIT SES” ULF, antenna and microphone on eBay for about $90. 84106969268 - BMW E46 ULF Module(As per photo) I pinned the 54 pin plug as per the diagram on this thread (prior to plugging in the ULF🤣). And connected it all up. Worked first time!!. Telephone came up on radio screen in white but could not enter the telephone prompt if enter button pushed. I had issues in connecting to my iPhone 7s+. I thought as this was an old thread I would just update the information. The screen just kept displaying “activate phone”. The voice recognition worked and so did the microphone with the voice recognition. I soldered a wire to both pin 36 and 32 to enable pairing. I was unable to enter “Bluetooth pairing” no matter what I did. I tried putting a new wire in 32 and shorting to ULF case and still nothing. Every time I put the wires together, the voice recognition would activate. I then read (very carefully) the thread again and bingo, it worked. Probably not reiterated with enough emphasis that you must, with key off. Join 32 and 36 together, turn key on, go to back of car and disconnect joined wires straight away, within 1-2 seconds. It does not work using the steering wheel buttons. All I need to do now is figure out phone book and text. As said earlier, this is a great thread with really good, easy to follow instructions. Great work to everyone who has contributed 👍 |
