Hi, sorry to bother you guys again, I've got myself a gen 8 ulf and the Audi plug, was going to try and wire it all up this weekend then just reading through these forums again realised that I might need an antenna? Is that right? Like I said I've already got the old style phone in my car which woks but I don't know if I need this antenna for the bluetooth, if so has anyone got one or a part number?

Many thanks guys

P.s is anyone interested in pics when I do the job?

This is a pic of the two modules I've got. The one on the right is the new module for Bluetooth and the one on the left is the old phone module, it had two plugs in the bottom, one of the plugs fit but not very well,do I still need a new antenna? And is that BMW parts number defiantly the one I need? Also what do I do with the other one?

Thank you

You should not need either the old phone module or the telephone module (TCU).

I didn't have either in my car, so am not sure if they affect stuff, but I'd just unplug them and treat as they are not there.

I'd pretend you don't have them, if it were me. May make things easier, when doing bluetooth upgrade.

If your ULF says MIT SES on the label, it means "With Voice" so you'll be fine there, but you may have to enable it with Navcoder.

I'd get the phone working and then worry about the other stuff.

You prob know this already, but don't plug the ULF in without doing the rewire. You can do that and plug in to ensure you get Telephone on the dash.

You don't necessarilly have to wait to get all the bits, though obviously it won't fully operate till you do.

antenna on the bay. Don't know what BMW charge though ;

Thanks guys, I've managed to wire it all in, it wasn't to bad to do after reading this forum. Just going to try and get navcoder now to do the voice activation.

Thanks again for the help

You are more than welcome.

If it makes the rewire clearer, here is the chart I used ;

Your English is much better than my Italian.

I tried the pin changes yesterday but could not find a wire in 52 to put into 19, any thoughts?

If I turn the car on and select phone I get 'activate phone'. I have read that I need to pair it but am confused as some say use the button on the steering wheel others elsewhere! My car is fitted with a phone in the armrest if it matters.

Also do I need to bypass the voice module or not, as getting conflicting advice there?

Hi mate.

Pin 52 should be brown with a white stripe and go through to the yellow wire on the back of the microphone ;

Not sure about the voice module, as I don't have that or the phone in the armrest.

I'd imagine you'd want to disconnect them if you no longer want to use them. Voice is avalable in the later versions of the ULF module I believe. They say "MIT SES" or something on the label.

Have a search for "Pairing" and you will see plenty of info on how to do it.

A bit on it here from when I got stuck.......

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic9678.html?highlight=pairing

Shorting 2 wires on the 54 pin connector. Not the steering wheel button. I got a button from Maplin and put it in the boot.

There ia a thread about that also.

Have a search for "ULF".

Hope this helps. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I'm just about to do this install. I've bought an 8th gen ULf and have re-pinned the plug. Went to BMW yesterday and was quoted £75 for the antenna, cable and microphone.

I had a quick look on the bay of e, and second hand, the antennas are still between £30 and £40 odd, so £75 new for that and the cable and microphone seems pretty good.

Not worth the hastle buying used then.

Don't forget to check fuse 22, for Telephone, in the glove box before you start. Save you a load of trouble fault finding, as it blows if a ULF has previously been connected without the rewire.........

Ordered the antenna and mic. Arriving in a couple of days. Did you say that the ulf could be plugged in and paired without these items? I wouldn't mind trying it to see if it works.
I did a re-pin some time ago and a couple of the cables above are in a different position. I may re-pin them again so they match the above chart.
Does the whole speaker system in the car provide the audio then or is it just limited to certain speakers?
