Don't suppose anyone could guide me on how to remove the rigid seat back. Trying to follow the comprehensive instructions higher up on this thread but struggling to release the bottom corners.

 Cheers, Greg

Ok I got off - lots of sweating, trapped fingers and a broken lug but it is possible to remove the rigid back with the seat in the car. Just. Now I'm looking for a fault with the heating unit...

 Cheers, Greg

Meant to say swearing not sweating. Not in this weather anyway!

Ok so here are a few of my own pics in my quest to find out why mine's stopped working.

Prise off the intake ducting and you will see the filter:

Undo three torx screws around the filter:

Rotate the filter quarter turn and slide it up and out. This will take some jiggling.

I'll wash the filter. But that's not the problem.

Many of the earlier posts here mention the ducting. Sure as you like, heres my crack:

I might gaffer tape it for now, just for diagnosis purposes. If if fires up and stays on, I'll know it's this.

Right now, it runs for 20 secs then shuts down.

I'll post up progress tomorrow.
. Cheers, Greg

I suppose at this age and mileage that we have all done now, we will have to put all these seat problems down to wear and tear rather than faults, but good to know where to look when problems arise.
It will be worth seeing how long a good tape repair lasts.

I haven't read all the thread - but my drivers seat heating failed on my last L322, it was the seat blower motor that went - MD replaced it under extended warranty 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Removed the motor/heater unit. The split in the ducting went right around to the other side.

Unlike tj2k's which was really broken, mine' s not terminal and as a temp fix to see if it'll run I've taped up the split. A few bands of cable ties to belt and brace it too:

Refitted it ... nothing. 20 secs then it switches off.

No faults showing on the IIDtool either.

I'll remove the underseat one next.

Greg Cheers, Greg

Cheers Andy. When you turn the dial on there's a strong fan sound for 5 secs Then that sound drops down and I can feel the (lower) fan running with my finger. Then fan stops altogether after around 20 secs.

Strange there's no faults showing on the IIDTool.

The whole unit is £215 but the element part is called 'Amerigon' - which is the "Peltier' heat/cool magic box. Done a quick google and found nothing. You'd think other makes use common suppliers, but I'm not seeing many heat/cool seat spares etc online.

I'm about to go over the WM too. There's a troubleshooting guide there, a lot about resistances. Will read up.

It's obscene having to drive around in this weather without a seat warmer. Big Cry First world problems, eh?

. Cheers, Greg

i had the same problem, but there was no visible damage so presumed it was down to the peltier cell so in the end i just purchased a new unit from LRdirect, fitted it in and it all works fine now, good luck FF TDV8 WESTMINSTER EXTERIOR DESIGN PACK 2012

From memory, when cooling the fan under the seat base will spin and can be heard rotating but on heating it stops FF TDV8 WESTMINSTER EXTERIOR DESIGN PACK 2012

ok thx guys. I'd better let it run for 20 mins. At £215 quid for the part, I def want to be sure before I pull that trigger!
