What is this battery disconnect device? Can't one just disconnect the battery starting with the neg.?If this car needs a battery far away from the stealers can you just replace?I have the special 5 point Torx tool to remove the ECU's Only have the iCarsoft tool, planning to get the GAP tool. Can you replace the battery without telling the car it has a new battery...what will happen if you don't tell it? 2012 TDV8 Vogue SE 4.4 |

I understand the battery disconnect device automatically disconnects the battery if the car thinks it's been in an accident. It's not a device/tool that you need to buy to disconnect the battery. Does it use a small explosive to fire the connector off the battery in a crash?

Also, I found that I did not need to unplug the multi connector on the control unit, because like Nino I had removed the air box, their was sufficient slack in the harness to simply move it to the side and lift the old battery out.
