They seem to clog to the point where they are a plug very suddenly!

Thanks for this info, my brothers TDv8 had this problem for a while, really simple fix when you know what to look for. His well chuffed, as its saved a rip off trip to a garage. Thanks

Thumbs Up

There is a modified part from LR (ask Dan) with a hole in it already... Been an issue for years Thumbs Up We check and change them on major services if still fitted with the old type... Approx £7 from main dealer If I remember correctly...

I'm sure Dan will ad a part number when he reads this thread...

Why bother when you can fit an inexpensive new JLR approved part Rolling Eyes

Because when it happens chances are you will not have the new JLR approved part. Drilling (or simply removing) takes a few minutes and your cured and can continue your journey (you may be in Outer Mongolia). By all means then order a spanking new JLR part Rolling Eyes

PS: If your fitting them nearly every day why don't you know the part number you must be getting them from JLR?

It's common sence for forum members to perform preventative maintenance and fit a revised inexpensive part before a breakdown situation in my eyes...

But hay ho, if you want to try to pick fault every post... Whatever!

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

Thanks Gaz, ordered from Amazon and replaced this morning - old filter wasn't too bad but air flows through the new filter a bit easier

Top bit of preventative maintenance Thumbs Up and for £3.50 I now have four spare filters!

Biggest part of the job was removing the spare - I think I will be purchasing an extraction kit from Dan! 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Same problem...different compressor?

G'day. I have a 2002 TD6 and have the same problem...the suspension is stuck at maximum height. I uncovered the compressor however not only does it not look like the one pictured n this thread but it also has a totally different filter. It has no hex. and looks like it can't be unscrewed.

Hi Tassie

Yes you have the earlier compressor model (like me) and like me the brass filter doesn't have a hex to easily remove. I had a go with some pliers but didn't try too hard as I didn't have a spare to hand, so not sure how easily it will come out or if it is on a thread!

You could always remove and drill out in situ as it were. Because it is an exhaust filter it will blow out any debris (?)

- [EDIT] done a bit of research, no thread on the early models, it is a ribbed press fit and wil take some tugging, turning and wobbling to get out.

Does your compressor run OK? Do you have any faults on dash or via diagnostics? Would seem a reset of some kind might clear things. Have you tried a battery disconnection? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
