0.01A ie 10mA is very low and if correct you have no significant current drain.
I would however try and clip the ammeter leads to the battery and battery lead more positively and do the test again just to be sure.

what do you mean by more positively? I now use crocodile clips (jump start cables in fact).
here's what my setup looks like:

No that is ok, no need to repeat.
10mA is excellent.
When you lock the car an additional 30-40mA will be added to the current by the immobiliser but 50mA is a perfectly acceptable current drain on a locked car and shouldn't cause a problem on a car that is used regularly.
If a car is left for locked 2 weeks and not used I have a feeling the battery may have trouble in starting it.
If you still have problems with the battery in your car draining it could be that something is not switching off correctly on an intermitent basis, possibly a sticking relay.
You will just have to see how it goes. Thumbs Up

Ok, so to sum up:
- I either have an intermittent battery drain
- Or my battery (that's supposed to have been changed very recently), has an issue.
To make a definitive test of the battery, what should I do? I've just checked it with -ve lead unplugged and it gives 12.88. 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

You can have they battery tested at a garage using a device that connects the +ve and -ve terminals together through a high resistance load.
This usually shows the battery voltage dropping away to almost zero within a couple of seconds if the battery has a problem.
It's also possible the battery has a faulty individual cell which is very dificult to test for unless you can remove the battery top casing.
I personally would not take anybodys word about the age / condition of a battery fitted to a car I was buying.

I'll have the battery tested tomorrow (I have my tyres changed) but if it's ok, this means that I have an internittent battery drain wich is worse I guess.
I can forget about a faulty FSR ? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

10mA drain means you don't have a problem, FSR or anything else.
Now you have got the hang of testing would it be worth double checking any possible drain to earth through the alternator?

Hum, so, I have to
1. locate the alternator
2. unmount things???
3. Unplug the -ve & put my meter in series
4. do tests with the car in idle mode? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

No, engine off, disconnect 1 from 2 as below and connect ammeter to 1 and 2.
Settings on ammeter as testing for fuse drain.

Hi guys, I've redone it today and it still reads 0.01...
I had the battery tested also and the garage says it seems ok. He just got his testing tool so I'll go tomorrow to another place where they are more accustomed to testing batteries. 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

I am soooooooooooo fed up with this issue: won't start this morning when I wanted to bring the car to have the battery (re) tested.
Jump starting it with the freelander didn't work either (not enough power) so I recharge it until this afternoon to have this (maybe) damn battery retested Evil or Very Mad Big Cry 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

You just have the worst kind of car problem you can imagine, the intermittent fault. I hope that whatever is the problem fails completely soon, so you know exactly what to replace.

Maybe a long shot but if you remove the fuse of the FSR circuit every evening, than at least you can eliminate that one. Keep removing it for a week and see if the problem comes back. If not that got to the next likely culprit.

Or leave the volt meter on the car, measuring amps, after you come home at night with the hood open so you can check every hour before you go to sleep. Only if you live in a "safe" neighbourhood of course Smile

Also try to find an auto-electrician that can test your alternator, maybe that is the issue.

Sorry to hear you keep having this infuriating issue. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Indeed, very annoying... After previous tests (see above in the thread), it seemed to me I had eliminated the FSR & alternator possibilities, no? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

Not if it is an intermittent fault, it could have been fine while testing and then act up again when you leave the car parked. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
