I’d say nobody had been there before me since it was built. I’m on home holiday this week so just doing it slowly every morning before the sun comes round and roasts me in my black boiler suit Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory" 2025MY Defender D350 90 in Silicon Silver on coils 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many, many other Landies over the years My preferred specialist: www.glenrands.co.uk -------------------------------------------------- |

I put these on a few months back but they’ve not kept the lip clean enough for my liking as they don’t cover the width of the lip enough imho. Am going to fit Freelander 2 ones LR001623 (need 2) as part of current work Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory" 2025MY Defender D350 90 in Silicon Silver on coils 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many, many other Landies over the years My preferred specialist: www.glenrands.co.uk -------------------------------------------------- |

It’s a tough one to pull out. I had to peel it over the wing lip then drop it out. But it was a coldish morning in the workshop.

Here’s how my 2002 looked after a quick scrub with the angle grinder an wire wheel. They were rusty. Bottom of the c post holed an about 6 inches on the sill near the jacking points.

There are also a couple of threaded studs welded to the wheel arch which the liner has to be flexed over to release it. It's quite tricky to do that as the edge of the liner also tends to catch on the lip around the arch itself. fanders --------------------------------------- 2009 4.2 SC Buckingham Blue 2021 Hilux 2.4 |

I know many of you might disagree but my thoughts are not to paint over rust even if you've treated it. You only have to leave a tiny speck for it to start bubbling again. I prefer to use waxoil directly on the patch because it has active antirust protectors that soak into the surface. Be kind with any replies. |

Kev - I’ve always painted over rust after rubbing down then applying a phosphoric acid based product like Jenolite or Kurust first. I then apply lots of clear Waxoyl over and regularly inspect and add more. My plan is to waxoyl the lip then add the Freelander 2 trims.

That's good mate and I wouldn't disagree with how you're tackling it. Personal choice as you say. I've just had some U shaped rubber seal delivered which will cover the entire lip when the door is closed, so no chance of any stones hitting the metal work and it only cost me a fiver for 2 metres. I'm doing the whole rim in one piece with an angled cut in the centre to go around the kink. Cheers Kev. |
