A family friend of ours towed my TDV8 up on a flat bed to Craig's (central diff was locked up) was an early 2000's Isuzu with I think a straight 6 4.2l engine. He's holding onto it because it has no trouble towing his 3+ tonne diggers and it was before they started introducing electronics onto them. Ed |

The most obvious choice to me is a Cummins. Plenty of kits to put them in various vehicles. Failing that a Perkins has also been done. Both are completely bullet proof.
