England 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Haven't used mine but it will be either 12v or earth....

The pink wire could be a reverse wire for the satnav... if that doesn't work there is the black wire with the RCA plugs that is a camera earth, maybe it switches the camera on....

If not, send an email to Erisin... Pete

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

Hi all. I have made the decision to get one of these units. Hopefully will be buying it tomorrow. Could really do with a little bit more advice first please?

Is this the correct one? Item number eBay Item No. 131231887218 on eBay?
Plus I need a long aerial lead?
Plus a dtv box for TV on go?

And this looks like you have a USB lead coming around from the back of the unit?

And with mine being a hse but with sat nav screen it should be just plug and play?

Thanks in advance. 2003 Range Rover HSE 3.0 TD6

tried to read through all this

im going to email crystal to order, ask for the extension 40pin cable but...i have DSP and AMP and am wondering is it plug and play, ie is the dsp and amp still going to be plugged in to power the speakers as i dont want the headunit running the speakers or to be cutting into the speaker wires really?

thanks

What you mention above is the best route to get the best sound from the system, by feeding pre amp from the android head unit into the bm54 that's there now and that will feed dsp and thus speakers in an active manner......

Trouble is, nobody has tried to do it that way yet....... Pete and the others chopped into the speaker wires and drive many speakers from a single channel. Sacrificing sound quality for an easier install. Though to be fair, it's the only tested route so far......

Plus if you go your suggested route, you will still have the sub woofer working.....

How you feed to the bm54 (amp) by pretending to be an existing source has yet to be tested......

Let us all know.....

mine isnt no its a 54 plate 2005, non touch screen.

its a real shame and the only thing holding me off doing it, cant justify taking out amp and dsp for an inferior sounding 50wchannel amp built into the head unit itself.

i see there is an option to add RCA out to the BM54 via the guy who does the BM54 modding/upgrade.

i wonder if he knows how to add RCA input, surely then could use an RCA cable from headunit into the BM54 to give all speakers power.

lots of thinking to be done to see if this is viable, really want the nice screen and nav up front!

Good idea that man !

As someone who has had the bm54 stage 2 amp upgrade done by Baris on here, I can say it sounds much much better. Well loud and clear. Baris can add an aux input with rca as you say, which the android head unit can plug into to feed the existing system.

I'd give him a call or send him a PM and see what he suggests. You don't have to have the amp itself upgraded of course, but I would if he's adding rca's anyway.....

The problem is switching the DSP amp on.... it's controlled by a canbus signal from the old head unit... some have put the old head unit in the glovebox (it fits where the CD player is) to turn it on but I haven't tried this as all my boot stuff was knackered after drowning in a Welsh river... can't see why it won't work but I bet it's still not plug and play...

There must be someone somewhere who could make a little box to turn the amp on, like the one that comes with this unit to do the steering wheel buttons... I did suggest this to Crystal but her English, although much better than my Chinese, is not good and I don't think she understood it....

Marks upgraded system does sound superb, this system does sound on par with the original, a friend of mine who has HD ears, he's a musician of high regard recons my set up actually sounds better than the Logic7 system in a mates TDV8, said something about the separation was better....!!! Pete

Can I question that? I was all up for building a CAN interface to control this, but can't find the CAN signals to the box. I'm referring to http://workshop-manuals.com/landrover/l322.../page_751/ for reference. Am I looking a the wrong thing - I'm still trying to find may way round the L322 documentation.

It looks like pin 10 of the DSP amp is 'radio on' signal - is that not just an on/off signal then?

Kev

That's not the dsp amp. That's the amp in the middle spec option.

Dsp page

Looks like pin 4. I imagine the bm54 radio module, which contains the amp and feeds 4 channels to the dsp will have same.

This is the bit that nobody has tried to do / tested. I understand the dsp has to identify itself on the ibus for the bm54 to realise it's there. It then operates slightly differently I am told. The sources will also have to identify themselves on the ibus to be available as a source, if you could get the bm54 to turn on without the screen fitted, you'd need to feed the android head unit into a source at line level and then get the bm54 to think the source is there on the ibus.

If we disregard the bm54 and just feed the androids 4 channels into the dsp, it may work, but it's never been tried. The radio on signal would need to be looked at using a volt meter if it's simply 12v. I'm wondering if it's not really an ibus connection though.

We need more testing in this area...... It's from what we can see on the BMW forums etc from others that have tried. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

A bit more info here ?

Mentions a "stay alive" signal..... Or the amp powers off again.
