What you mention above is the best route to get the best sound from the system, by feeding pre amp from the android head unit into the bm54 that's there now and that will feed dsp and thus speakers in an active manner......

Hi all. Mine came yesterday. Got the head unit, digital TV box, rear camera, and the extension lead all for 326 from crystal. Going to fit it in a couple of weeks. 2003 Range Rover HSE 3.0 TD6

The problem is switching the DSP amp on.... it's controlled by a canbus signal from the old head unit... some have put the old head unit in the glovebox (it fits where the CD player is) to turn it on but I haven't tried this as all my boot stuff was knackered after drowning in a Welsh river... can't see why it won't work but I bet it's still not plug and play...

Can I question that? I was all up for building a CAN interface to control this, but can't find the CAN signals to the box. I'm referring to http://workshop-manuals.com/landrover/l322.../page_751/ for reference. Am I looking a the wrong thing - I'm still trying to find may way round the L322 documentation.

That's not the dsp amp. That's the amp in the middle spec option.
Looks like pin 4. I imagine the bm54 radio module, which contains the amp and feeds 4 channels to the dsp will have same. This is the bit that nobody has tried to do / tested. I understand the dsp has to identify itself on the ibus for the bm54 to realise it's there. It then operates slightly differently I am told. The sources will also have to identify themselves on the ibus to be available as a source, if you could get the bm54 to turn on without the screen fitted, you'd need to feed the android head unit into a source at line level and then get the bm54 to think the source is there on the ibus. If we disregard the bm54 and just feed the androids 4 channels into the dsp, it may work, but it's never been tried. The radio on signal would need to be looked at using a volt meter if it's simply 12v. I'm wondering if it's not really an ibus connection though. We need more testing in this area...... It's from what we can see on the BMW forums etc from others that have tried. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 Previous cars : 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6 1999 Discovery Td5 ES 1995 BMW M5 3.8 6 speed 1992 Range Rover 3.9 Efi Vogue 1992 BMW M5 3.8 1988 BMW 735i SE 1989 Ford Sierra XR4x4 2.9i 1981 Ford Fiesta Supersport |
