The transponder chip is a little loose thingemedo in the old key. They are loose in there so can easily be put in the new key. That part I had working on my two US flip keys. What didn't work was the opening and closing of the doors. The "normal" pairing of key fobs to door lock/unlock won't work on the US flip keys I bought for my US car.

Reason i ask EB is that i'd like to not have to butcher the current keys(im lucky and have 2!) but can easily program in another transponder to work with the system thanks to my recent toy purchase... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

What device is required for chip programming and how easy/difficult is it? |

Yes, the new keys come with a blank chip pre-installed. |

The Faultmate can sync the keys to the ECU but the transponder code has to be LR generated based on the VIN as far as I know. Now whether you can program the transponder with a different tool, I don't know.

Ahhh, i thought you could force it to learn a new transponder code from a new key? Maybe this means a second hand key could work then but i thought if the transponder was blank it would learn from the car in some way when being programmed? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Although I am not 100% sure, that is how I think it works. HOWEVER, I also read a recent post on here where someone found a way to program the transponder chips themselves ?? No idea where but search and Stan (preferably in that sequence) should be the solution to that |
