Hi Dave, mine is a MY2006 but built 05/2005 (North American spec) and it doesn't lock/unlock the doors despite having two flip key 315 MHz fobs. Could that mean that mine is still on the "old" system ?

ok on the 05 they changed with the face lift to the tag system, i dont have the equipment to write transponder for this, but i do for the 05 and younger, check to see if you have the bmw ews under you centre console, its on the drivers side level with the shifter, if you have that ews then these will work for you... The transponder I have, I took out of my old crappy key. I stuck it in the housing of the flip key I bought from the US. That part works fine and the car starts without issues with the combo (the blade is also taken from the old key). The only thing my flip key fobs won't do, is locking/unlocking the doors. I have gone through the pairing procedure several times and both my old style keys work and the flip keys (both US 315 MHz) won't pair. If I get one of the keys you're talking about, would that then work or is that where the change is done ? Transferring the blade and transponder is easy MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!! Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !! |

My keys came from the far east I ordered the 433mhz ones, although don't know how you would tell if they had sent 315mhz in error other than why I cant program to lock/open doors |

That looks suspiciously like a body control module manufactured by a company called Lear. With the EEDS tag I would venture this board was made in Spain? These modules are usually locked and cannot be re programed, although it may be possible to get a reader and program a Transponder chip to one match one of the existing key slots locked into its memory. Occasionally you see a used one of these units being sold on eBay etc, do not buy as they are VIN locked and cannot be programed to a different vehicle. new units are available for around £80 - £100 but must be factory coded to the vehicles VIN by the dealer, or so I'm told.
