Think if such a useful option was workable, they’d have done it. It’s annoying getting out of something else with it and remembering it doesn’t work.

As above, it’s a 48V motor that provides mild assist and does the stop/start stuff, fed from a little battery that charges under deceleration.

If you want to keep it, you could ask if they will offer a cash-in-lieu settlement - that way you get money and the car doesn’t get written off.

Never looked at live data before, but it smelled very hot underneath when I parked earlier and I wondered if I might have interrupted a regen.

It’s not pretty, but I doubt it’s particularly unusual for anything that’s lived out of town for over a decade anywhere a bit damp. The paint/protection on everything underneath isn’t great.
