Another forum mentioned this , so It could be true , I don't know personally . Still trying to get my head around it all .

I was wondering about using my spare camera as a permanent reversing camera , I know that when I put a 7.2 v PSU on the camera terminals when the batteries were goosed , the camera powered up and the red leds worked ok. I was wondering about mounting my spare camera down by the tow bar somewhere on a permanent voltage feed , so I can switch to it when reversing . May be useful because my reversing sensors only work when the gremlin master allows it .

my cam just arrived today. brand new in the original box complete with bracket. put it in the holder, took a couple of mins then it said on display cam charging.

it is fully charged now and works a treat, i love ebay bargains and my FF is now complete as it left the factory again. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

I think it's a case of use it or lose it! I am going to run my one down once a month if I remember. I don't think it's healthy for any battery to be constantly on charge and never used. Previously..

Just to pick up on Blubbermans post from some time back, I would like to confirm that these units are fairly straightforward to repair once the batteries are dead.

Mine was from a 2007, and so may be different from Blubbermans, but it uses 750mAh AAA Nimh batteries, not nicads. Tagged 800 mAH ones are easily found on the web, and much easier to solder. If you go down this route remember to recover the thermistor which is scotched to the old pack!. The only disadvantage with this method, is I could not reuse the fusible link that is on the original pack.

The original packs are made by GP, but I could not source anywhere.

The Venture Cam is actually held together by 3 clips, 1 on each side near the top (camera end) and 1 centrally at the bottom (plus, of course, the sealant). To open, I used a swiss army knife screwdriver head inserted 2/3 down one side and gently twisted. Once the seal is broken, slide it to the bottom until you hit the tab, and then push the tab with another slim knife to release. The other 2 will then pop out.

Although I could rejuvenate the batteries, they were gone (0 - 0.2v /cell on most). Pop the new ones in, seal and clip back togeher and it works great (and there are no visible signs of it ever having been touched.

I am retro fitting into my Discovery 3, all done bar this bit so I can get the twisted pair and power hooked in.

anyone able to supply even a photo of the plug and the cables that run into the cradle.
