Bump

Well my driver's side (DS) door is playing up today. unlocked and opened fine. When I tried to close the door it wouldn't close - Seemed like the latch was stuck in the out position.

Eventually the door closed OK, but would not open again. The handle would pull OK from the outside, but didn't open the door latch. I had to get in the back and open the DS door from the inside.

Currently closed and locked OK, but don't want to mess with it until the daylight tomorrow.

It is currently at or below freezing here. So frozen lock or cable broken - which do you think?

My cable gave up the ghost a few week ago, and I had the same problem, the nipple was seized in the slot. Tell you what, these cables have shot up in price: 2010 = £7 - £8 each.
Today the cheapest I could find are £23 and upwards.
How's that for inflation!?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Absolute ripoff for a cable. Explain to me how you can buy this cable in the US for 6 or 7 dollars and we in Ireland and the UK get charged 30-40 euro?

Looks like these cables have kept on going up!

I just replaced mine with the part from LR Trade Parts.

Looks exactly the same. Was £15 Inc Next Day Delivery.

Another revival for this thread.

Has anyone had issue with the aftermarket parts for the exterior door cable.

I have the FQZ000041.Z8 part (All Makes) from LR Direct and after trying to tweak the fitment as much as I can it feels like the cable is slightly too long.

I can see with the door card off the latch mechanism moves when you pull the door handle however with the door handle fully out the latch can still move another cm or two meaning if I softly pull the handle it wont open the door. I have to yank it to get it to open.

I was going to take the door handle off to have a look at that but just checking am I missing other adjustments?

Hi Ash and all,
Resurrection of this thread, I bought a non LR replacement fitted it and the same is happening.
Removed and checked against the original and the new one appears to be 5mm longer doesn’t sound a lot but doesn’t operate the lock?
Did you find a solution sounds like the genuine one is the same ie slightly longer?
Before I buy a genuine one and wait for delivery is there any other adjustment needed?

Sorry didn't find any better answer to this.
I assume OEM will just be a bit shorter and therefore work.
I have got use to opening my drivers door with a more intentional pull than any of the others

If you do order OEM let me know if it works better. They are quite expensive now for a bit of wire  07 4.2 Supercharged

I thought I'd taken a snap but no. If you look edge-on at the door lock, you may notice a rubber grommet very close. Remove that, and there is a screw.

I can't remember the head size, but anyway, give that a turn left/right and it makes a difference to the handle pull. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

So found the little screw under the gromet tried adjusting left and right didnt make any differnce for me.
i had agenuine cable on order and it arived today, fitted it and door is back working fine.
Just a note my aftermarket cable was 5mm longer than the original (72.5mm) so worth checking before fitting.
