AHB Mirror is retrofitted. The settings needed in the CCF for this to work are weird...

Auto High Beam 1 - Needs to be "Fitted"
Auto High Beam 2 - Needs to be "Disabled"
Auto High Beam 3 - Needs to be "Rest of World"

I had option 3 set to "UK" but it wouldn't work. The auto light came on with the ignition on but went off as soon as the engine was started. I changed it to Rest of World tonight and am pleased to report that it's working perfectly.

Rear brakes rebuilt in their entirety and the handbrake bedding in profess has been completed.

Tonight I also gave it an oil and filter change and a good once over for it's MOT in January. I balanced all of the wheels after fitting the TPMS sensors. None of them needed much weight but it's amazing how much difference it makes when you balance your wheels every 12 months.

Here's hoping for a nice clean MOT pass and another 12 months of fairly trouble free usage!

David, amazing read! I'm going through both threads; for this car and the black supercharged Rangie you had.

With your experience so far, I'm really interested in your recommendations for rust proofing the subframes.

I just did an oil change on my 12 AB, which hasn't really had a hard life, and I noticed bad rust on the front subframe. It doesn't even have 100k on the clock, and I've put less than 20k miles in the last 5 or 6 years. So, I'm in the process of looking for a spare subframe that will get the extreme treatment for the future.

When I did my subframe it was a lot of work. Painting with the 2 part epoxy mastic was hard work as the paint was heavy and it killed brushes.

It's been acid dipped, galvanised and then powder coated. I'd be sorely tempted to go down that route if I was doing it again. The only thing that put me off it before was the idea of having to re-tap the holes for any mountings and the holes for the bushes being slightly smaller after it was done.

Longevity wise, I sold my 4.2 and bought the 5.0 after just 1 winter so can't really comment on how the Bilt Hamber products were holding up.

I dropped the SC off with the local specialist for it's MOT yesterday. Whilst I was waiting to be picked up, they took the car round the corner for its MOT.

First time I've seen it on the road from the outside or heard it burble past. 13 years after the L322 went out of production it's still a good looking car in my books. Especially in the silver. I really lucked out when I found this one in silver.

Pleased to report that she sailed through the MOT without so much as an advisory. This car has never failed an MOT in its life so it's nice to be able to keep that tradition going. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

a well looked after and largely original L322 is indeed a lovely sight First time FFRR owner

Since I've had this 5.0, every time the fuel light comes on the dash shows approximately 50 miles of range but I can only get 80 odd litres in the tank. The manual states that it's a 101 litre tank so I'd expect to be able to get more then 80 lites in it when the light comes on.

After a bit of Googling, fuel gauge issues seem quite common. However, it seems to be more that it reads empty when it's full or the gauge is erratic so neither symptoms directly fit with my car.

However, it's a TSB so I'm going to give it a go and see what happens.

I've ordered the crimps from LR as I've not got many left and at a quid each it's not particularly expensive. I've also ordered a new gasket for the fuel tank.

Will report back once the parts have arrived and I've had time to do it.

Hmm, I feared that might be the case.

If it's any consolation, I've a Jag XF that runs out of fuel at ¼ tank remaining. I remaining hopeful it's also an easy fix
