Good luck David. Regarding collection / delivery; Shiply delivered mine for the same cost as trailer hire and a tank of petrol.

The seller is a very busy bloke so finding a time that suited him was my priority.

He was good to me being at the other end of the country so I want to repay the favour by not messing around trying to find a carrier to lift it within that window.

I’ve used Shiply before including for my 4.2 which was a great experience. Other experiences haven’t been great with people not turning up, etc.

It’s 3am and I’m just in the door having left at 7.45 yesterday morning.

Car made it all the way home without missing a beat. In an attempt to give the car an easy run we’ve done 427 miles with the cruise control set to 65mph which was 1800rpm.

To say I’m chuffed with it would be an understatement. Will post more tomorrow.

Well, as promised, here’s a bit more of a write up on yesterdays events.

I left home at 07:45 yesterday morning and went to my folks. At 08:10 a taxi picked us up and took us to Glasgow Airport. We were very early for the flight in case security was busy, however, security was dead so we were through in less then 5 minutes.

We spent 1.5hrs sitting in the airport lounge making the most of the free coffee and air conditioning as the rest of the airport was roasting as we walked through it. We then boarded our flight and made it to Heathrow 15 minutes early. However, despite landing 15 mins early, it was 30 minutes before we got off the plane making us 15 minutes late.

Upon walking through the exit gate we met a friend who drove us to a pub in Sunbury on Thames where we had a drink and something to eat. Unfortunately, the guy with the Range Rover was running late and John had to leave so he never got to see the Range Rover. However, the car was less then 2 miles from the pub so we jumped in an Uber to the car when the seller was home.

We had a good look around the car to find that it was almost immaculate, the interior is mint, the bodywork is mint, the only thing that I can pick fault with is that the wheels need refurbishing. The seller told me that though so I’m really not complaining. The digital dashboard showed that it was a bit short of oil so rather then risking it on a long journey in this heat, I asked the seller if there was a Halfords locally. He kindly offered to run me to Halfords to get some oil.

We then set off with the car to the local BP station where it was topped up with Ultimate, the tyre pressures were set, phone connected to the Bluetooth and when I opened the cubby box found that it had a Bluetooth streaming adapter in it too which was a pleasant surprise. So was turning the air conditioning on to find it was ice cold - a VERY pleasant surprise as it was BOILING. The car in the sun was showing 37 degrees.

After filling the car to the brim, I entered the postcode into the Sat Nav and it said “Insufficient fuel to reach destination, please refuel” so it’s definitely a Supercharged Range Rover that I’ve bought.

Once we got out onto the motorway, the car performed impeccably. It is whisper quiet, the suspension is very soft, the bushes all feel tight, and it is tracked perfectly. There is the tiniest amount of chain rattle that you can hear when against a wall. I noticed it echo on the wall of the Starbucks drive through at Oxford Services, it really isn’t bad though.

In an attempt to be nice to the car we sat with the cruise control on at 65mph which was 1800rpm and left it alone until we needed another fuel stop. After the 2nd fuel stop, our 3rd and final stop was home at 02:50 this morning. The car is now parked until I’ve cleared my feet and ordered the chain kit.

Really looking forward to having it on the road properly, sitting at 65 all the way home from London was very boring!
