The best way to remove it is with a plastic trim removal tool. You can get a set cheaply from eBay. If you use a screwdriver you can mark the trim. The vent is attached to the tube bit but that just pulls off once the the vent is released |

Yeah the aux is a pain... I've actually ordered some inline Aux amplifier and a voltage regulator and *eventually* planning on modifying the loom so it's all hidden...

Yes, the long aux cable is a pain. But it is easy to hide on its run to the back. It can go behind the trim in the footwell and then you can push it under the tunnel trim. There is a post on here somewhere describing how to hide the aux connection at the back. I must admit I haven’t bothered.
