I know if I had an advisory for corroded brake pipes I’d get them replaced asap. |

My rear brake lines failed a recent MOT due to corrosion. It was a nightmare getting anyone to do the job. Took it back the MOT garage and whilst they were checking out the brakes again the lines popped! From what I have been told it is a very common weakness on the rears especially near the flex lines.

Mine failed during the MOT test on the rollers. I had them replaced with Kunifer 10 brake pipes which should have been standard fit from JLR. To fit standard brake piping to a premium car that's designed to wade through water is crazy, Kunifer corrosion resistant brake pipes don't cost that much more. BMW i3 Electric Car

I had an advisory on brake pipes few years ago and replaced with Kunifer, I seem to remember a 7.6 metre

I didn’t have any advisories for the brake pipes on my 2004 FullFat but one day the pipe which crosses from the left rear nearside to the right rear decided to split.That was a fun day…..

my 2004 had advisories going on the front pipes . Changed them ,tried the brakes and whoosh lost all pressure resistance . Had brake pipe fluid all over the sill ,removed the plastic and wow accident waiting to happen ,all with rot ,one had burst . Changed the lot .

My 322s had this, the 2004 one failed its MOT on corroded brake lines. Based on mine, there is probably surface corrosion but if failure were imminent it would have failed. Clearly you can't go wrong just getting the work done. But maybe step 1 is to discuss with the tester what sort of life is still in the lines. On one occasion mine were treated with a rust inhibitor like Dinitrol (not sure which) and with that treatment they lasted a while longer. But as a general comment 322 brake lines are not especially durable and one has to be prepared to replace etc from time to time. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
