All my fluids are nearly done now with the exception of the engine oil which was done in June by previous owner and I intend on doing in December, the next one to tackle is the transfer case.
The transfer case showing the fill and drain plugs Draining the oil The old oil was not in great condition Current Cars 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 2020 BMW M4 Competition 2019 BMW X4 My RR Blog: www.facebook.com/L322Project or https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic61540.html Last edited by Caesium on 17th Nov 2021 12:51pm. As you may have seen from my first post, the tailgate needed some attention before the rust created a hole and with winter approaching I made it a priority to get done.
Still got the badge to stick back on but it looks much better. I also took off the interior trim of both upper and lower tailgate and sprayed a load of Dinitrol ML in there to stop it corroding any further. Good thing about Dinitrol is that it's easily wipeable off the paintwork when it drips out. Christian. Headlight bulbs.
Nearside headlight changed, offside the old bulbs. Beam pattern is still perfect and much brighter than before - nearside is new bulbs. Notice the beam intensity below the cut-off is much better on the nearside meaning more light on the road. Great work, and you're reminding me that the HID bulbs on my facelift 3.6 (with the same lights) are a bit pants, so I'll get some new bulbs as they'll be the originals. The LED lights for the main beams look good too. |

That’s a big improvement. Have you got a link to the bulbs you used? 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Beam pattern looks wrong, where is the kick up to the left side to illuminate kerbs? Have you got it set to continental pattern by any chance? Drives:

I have never checked the lever to change the driving mode, I'll do that!

Now rvbush has started me off! I cant see the beam pattern in the daytime and I have just fiddled with the levers which were both in the upwards position, but that shows a flat beam pattern (as per the photos).

My front door speakers have blown (the spider has detached from the frame) so any bass sounds like a load of loose paper flapping about.
While I had the door panel off I sprayed the interior with dinitrol only to be then informed the doors are aluminium. Never mind. Belt and braces eh!
Here's the speaker fitted into the door Wider shot for perspective. If you're doing this then get yourself some spare clips for the door panel from either LR or vehicleclips.co.uk as the generic ones simply don't hold and some of them will undoubtably break. Enjoy getting the door release cable back on. What a pain. Christian. Took the RR up to North Norfolk for a few days and she performed brilliantly, her first long distance and everyday use test since I got her.
In the UJ in the middle there is a 17mm bolt and U washer that holds the two parts together, you can just about make out the bolt hole - bolt removed The eagle eyed among you will notice the bearing is missing, this is because it was preventing me from getting a drift onto the end of the UJ to try and drift it apart. This is what's left of the bearing. I cut it off with a grinder but left the inner race guide on the sleeve to protect the bearing face.
Repeatedly hitting the joint did not separate it, I ended up using an air chisel on the shoulder to drive it apart. This is the face of the rear of the shaft, I had to run a flap wheel over it to remove the burrs caused by the striking.
This is the splined part. There are some documents that show you need to mark the two pieces of the shaft so they go back in the same position. I didn't find this to be an issue as the splined part has a keyway of two wide splines that means they can only be put back together in one way. The part adjacent to the splined section is the bearing carrier section where the bearing fits, I drifted it on with a piece of pole. Here's the tunnel with the prop out. I put the prop back onto the car using loctite on all the bolts and torqued up as per manual. You'll need a decent extension bar to be able to get to all the bolts. After putting the car back on the ground, I'm pleased to say the droning was completely gone, but I did notice something that was suggested by someone else, my offside rear wheel was quite warm..... That's a good result on rebuilding the prop.
