I would be inclined to take it for another long run as that may not have been long enough to burn the soot level to below the amber light trigger point. Ideally if you have a nice long stretch where you can set the cruise to 55MPH that would be a good option. 30 minutes at this speed and with the coolant up to temp might be enough to finish off the soot burn to turn off the amber warning. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |

I've had my car for over 18 months now and had never seen the amber light until last weekend when I was towing the caravan. After 7 minutes the light went out and has not returned. As suggested, go for a longer run. |

Also remember that you have to keep the fuel tank over the quarter full Mark., but as others have said, it can take quite a time to trigger a regen.

Hi Rob, apologies for the lte reply - I mustn't have notifications set up, but funnily (annoyingly) enough the dpf has started to play up again! After a good clean of the MAF sensors and a few good long runs out the engine started to regenerate under normal driving conditions (with the IID tool I could see the passive regenerations taking place). So I never took it for a smoke test in the end (got tired of hitting dead ends with the garages I went to who never wanted to get involved - coupled with the engine seemingly now performing)! With the COVID restrictions I found I wasn't really using the car much and was walking to work so my drives became more infrequent and shorter, and alas the problems have come back. Getting an amber warning last week, I tried to clear on the motorway but developed a red. Usual fault code (P2458-66). I'm going to finally get round to changing the nylon hoses (I've been too busy to do so with buying a new house needing work and actual work work being obscenly busy). I'lll drop the oil and clean the MAF sensors too. Cheers, Paul |

You'll only know the true figure if you have an IID or similar plugged in and reading the values. If amber light has gone then relax and pour a beer Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory" 2025MY Defender D350 90 in Silicon Silver on coils 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many, many other Landies over the years My preferred specialist: www.glenrands.co.uk -------------------------------------------------- |
