After reading about it quite a bit some years ago and if I understood correct.. Then the smaller heater control valve(in first pic) is for cars w/o webasto remote fitted. Bigger valve(with two metal things) is used for cars with remote and timer. Bigger one with two valves heats the cabin more.

Well I was going to get this on the bench today but suffered a fsr fault last night so investigated that instead. Found the main 12v feed wire burnt in the connector plug so new fsr and plug on order. A job for next week I managed to do a temp repair, also connected my ctek charger in the boot fuse box and plugged it in to my outside power supply just behind my car.
As the fbh will run directly off the battery via a remote with a timer on it I dont want the battery suffering.

The x2 valves in my picture are just the normal heater control valves the larger single is the isolation valve to cut off the water supply to the engine ??.
I'm not planning on fitting it as I want this to warm both engine and cabin.

If the car activates the fbh as i hope with the on board screen great as it turns the blowers on inside the cabin.

The remote will allow me to turn it on when ever i like just wont have any blowers on in the cabin but by convection alone the heater matrix will warm the cabin up.......or that's what I'm hoping.

Hopefully going to get back to this some time this week I'm making up a loom so I can bench test it and use the same loom on the car via the remote.
Need to find the 12v switching plug on the cars loom from the climate control. Plus fit a fuse in the fuse box marked aux heater.

Just a standard 12v remote switching relay currently programmed to latching mode
A button on
B button off
This will supply the 12v switching at pin 1 on the fbh to activate it or shut it off, I have a timer circuit that will set the switched 12v supply to any pre determined time but I realised once the timer is activated I cant remotely shut it off/override it. So just going to keep to the switched unit for now.
This is exactly how we control the fbh on our D3 and works well.

Led just to show12v switching is on.

Still working on this, it seems my fbh thermo top c requires a can bus to activate dispite pin 1 being used to switch it on. I have all the software I can test all the components and they work. Going to get a can of freeze spray on the thermistor incase that's stopping it from working as it's not exactly cold enuff for a real life test.

The simplest option is to fit an analogue board from the Ebay guy then I will truly have an independent fbh working when ever I want what ever the outside temp. ........

Yep, I saw your retro fit post didnt you connect it up to the petrol tank as well ? The boards have a link you can short for either derv or petrol. I dont fancy dropping the tank to connect to petrol but am happy to fit the small bottle I was planning to use from the start

You don’t have to drop the tank. The fuel pump assembly has a dip tube fitted from factory. You just have to nip the end off and connect on to the stub. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

Arh makes sense, will keep that in mind if the additional derv bottle becomes an issue.
Iv orderd the analogue board just in case I'm missing the canbus signal from the car.
Can truly use it as and when ever I want via a remote

This is interesting:

Explains that you can't just turn it on without a Canbus signal.

I have now recieved my anologe circuit board for my fbh install. I will still be running this up on the bench before retro fitting it, I coulda done with this with the current weather.
I'm not in a rush to sit outside in -2 to fit it so it will have to wait.
I will be working on the canbus side of things to see if it can be triggered or not independently of the car, so far if tried a high low sine wave pulse generator to no effect.

How did you get on with this in the end?

I’m not looking at how to do it to my car as it’s getting really cold outside again.

Can’t work out wether to buy a Diesel burning heater on eBay and run it from a separate tank mounted somewhere or to hunt down a petrol one and wire it like it should have been from the factory.

Iv still got this sitting here on my todo list, I bought a board to replace the existing one in the fuel burning heater and it can run it on petrol or derv. I looked at fitting the fuel pipe from the tank but it seems much easier and safer to use a separate small diesel tank engine bay mounted. All switchable from a remote

I had a look at my car today. I’ve got the plug in the boot for the receiver but due to it being bloody cold I didn’t look under the bonnet.

I’m thinking more and more about a diesel one with it’s own tank but am unsure where I’d put a separate fuel tank for it.

Can the Webasto pump it’s own fuel or would the tank need a pump in it too?

It needs a pump, iv got everything sitting here I just didn't get round to fitting it due to major engine overhaul. I will try and find some time to run it all up on the bench. Iv got the power connector in the wheel arch and iv fitted a fuse in the correct place to test power. I really have no excuse not to fit it all.....except its bloody cold. There just ain't enuff hours in the day
