I had a look at my car today. I’ve got the plug in the boot for the receiver but due to it being bloody cold I didn’t look under the bonnet.

I’m thinking more and more about a diesel one with it’s own tank but am unsure where I’d put a separate fuel tank for it.

Can the Webasto pump it’s own fuel or would the tank need a pump in it too?

David.
Thought all diesels had FBH fitted any way.

Am revisiting this thought it about time, iv got some time off over Xmas and iv still got all this kit sitting here in a box.
I got intouch with my ebay seller who supplied everything and gave him a run down and it seems he managed todo the retro fit himself using bits off of cars he was breaking.

Says its the best mod ever he even managed to use the range rover telestart remote as well after swopping out the hevac circuit boards.

Watch this space !!

Be interested to see how you get on!

If he’s breaking another one and ends up with a complete kit then I’d rather buy it that way then in bits and pieces!

KDS2 - you ask if the Webasto can pump its own fuel. The answer is no. Webasto supply a cylindrical solenoid pump which pulses at variable rates according to the fuel need at the heater. Hence it is controlled by the PCB in the heater. No other pump is needed. If at all possible, the simplest approach is to fit a new pick-up fuel pipe into the top of the tank.

On the subject of pumps, I don't know if anybody else has picked this one up, but somebody in the early stages of this thread mentioned cheap pumps being available on Ebay. I've tested a couple of these and found that they can't pump sufficient fuel for a ThermoTop C when it is running flat out. These pumps cost and arm and a leg new and second-hand ones are not cheap either, but they are the only realistic option and they do appear to be very reliable.

Hello from Northern Germany.

Hopefully someone can help me.

I bought my Range Rover MY2005 (BMW M62 engine) a long time ago in the USA. After driving it there for a while, I shipped it to Germany. Since then I drive the RR without any major issues (only some cooling problems).
To make all the necessary adjustments to use all options like navigation and FM tuner here in Europe, I bought a Fautmate extreme in 2010.
Then I added some extras like a rear view camera and the TMC ECU. There was only one thing I was always missing, a parking heater.
Last year I found the right Webasto parking heater + most of the necessary attachments for a decent price and installed it over the last holidays.
Now I can run the heater with the Faultmate, but not from the car itself (touch screen timer or Remote). I was able to make all settings for the parking heater in some ECUs but not in the instrument pack. For what ever reason I can read the settings from the ECU but can't write back. I suspect that is why the parking heater will not connect to the car network.
Unfortunately there is no more support from Blackbox-solutions for the Faultmate, I got no response nor when posting to the forum neither by email to BBS directly.

Maybe someone can help me with what to do next.

What settings have you made and what diagnostic tool you used. I found a workshop that have a 2D tool pro but do not know if and how they can unlock the parking heater with it. Can someone tell me if it works with the tool and if so how?

Looking forward to your replies

Greetings from northern Germany

I know the answer to this 1, you need to reprograme the heating control panel for fuel burning heater or just swop it out for 1 that is all ready programmed. As I suspect you won't be able to do either I suggest you fit the canbus override board and activate the fbh via remote control.

Mines all up and running on the bench iv not taken any photos yet and I still intend to fit it to my range rover, just been a bit busy Confused

Thanks for the quick reply.

The heater control is already set up for park heater, I did the changes with the faultmate but it didn't change anything. The instrument pack still shows "no park heater" Using a can bus override doesn't make sense because I need to switch on the inside blower + activating the extra heater valve.

Best

good idea, but this won't work without having the park heater connected to the car network. The remote needs that as well as the touchscreen timer.

@kds2

Great thank you. Do you remember what ECUs you set up to enable the park heater and the settings you chose? I checked the ID-Tool website and there are some settings for the park heater / FBH possible. As I have the faultmate but can't write to the instrument cluster I think I need to have it done by the independent dealer. So it would be great to know what settings the cluster needs? Then I can play with the other ECUs by myself to set it up right.

Best

Sorry I just printed the information off Gap site then armed with the info asked OFG here in Lincoln that have the Gap full tool to do it for me as I don't have the Gap iid, I believe it can be done with the basic tool.
