Sounds like there is a solution in there somewhere.

Between the warranty company, Stratstone, and Land Rover then it should be doable even if Stratstone pick up 30% and they Bully the warranty company into a 30% payout. I would imagine a group the size of Stratstone would be able to apply enough pressure to the warranty if done from high enough up to get them to fork something out.

Stick to your guns and you should be up a new engine after all this. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Let’s hope so! I am feeling a little better going into the weekend but know by now not to get my hopes up with Stratstone, fingers crossed. Smile

It’s a lot lot more positive than where you thought you were this morning. You seem to be in a strong position. Believe... unless or until told otherwise. Good for you Thumbs Up

I must say my local dealer have been just that, it was the CEO of Stratstone that has passed it down to his Group standards leader who has moved things along or I think I’d be in the same position I was the other day.

They have confirmed it is the CrankShaft and sent the report to the warranty. They called today to say they hope to hear back from the warranty by tomorrow and believe they will contribute, as with 40% from LR and a contribution from Stratstone their goal is to cover the cost of a new engine. 🤞🏼

Fingers crossed mate hope you get this sorted. I have a 64 plate 3.0 tdv6 and thinking of changing it for the v8 because of this whole crankshaft issue ☹️, it has got land rover extended warranty but when i asked them do you cover the crankshaft issue they said “we deal with each case on a individual basis so we cannot say no we won’t cover it and yes we will” in other words they ain’t paying for no engine replacement

Saying that mate LR said to me that they wouldn’t cover mine 100% because it would be unfair on those paying for the extended warranty, so I’d bet they would cover it even if the LR warranty wouldn’t? Even still I’d be thinking of getting a V8 though, they seem better engines all together, something I wish I’d have looked more into, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I think it sounds like you might be getting close to a resolution here.

Which is nice. And at the end of the day you will have a new engine! Might be worth getting Stratstone to do the LR warranty check up and ask them to enquire about putting you on that for future problems! Even if it costs you a years subs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

And this the reason I don’t get my hopes up with Stratstone and their warranty company. They are now saying due to the car being serviced 1300 miles late due to lockdown they believe it may have caused the part to fail and have sent an engineer out to inspect it. I now need to wait until they have been out and decided whether or not they will cover it.

To me it looks like they’re clutching straws and trying to find any way out.

It’s no longer looking like a positive outcome. Stratstone have already expressed to Mapfre Abraxxas how much they disagree with their statement but MA are not willing to take into consideration the delay due to lockdown and the fact it is only 1300 miles.

Hopefully they will authorise it but it doesn’t look likely.

They certainly are clutching at straws and trying to wriggle out of it. I really hope you get a resolution on this with minimal impact to you, financially. Kev

You’ve not explained your circumstances as to how you ended up overdue a service and what evidence you’ve got as to what prevented it being done in your particular case.

That said, if the selling dealership effectively misrepresented an AU sale; and at the 11th hour imposed/ endorsed the MA warranty upon you at the point of sale; and then in good faith you accepted said warranty; and if MA is now seeking to exploit apparent loopholes/ penalise you for genuine but exceptional ‘lockdown’ circumstances beyond your control, perhaps you could argue the toss with MA... or perhaps easier and more expedient to make your case to the selling Dealership group, asking for them - all things considered - to resolve the balance of matters on a good will basis.

Wot he said.^.

This is with Stratstone. Their customer care department and then LR customer serivices. The warranty company are trying to wriggle, and they should not be allowed to do that.

If it comes to it then a professional impartial inspection may be needed, as suggested previously, whether this will sway then is up for grabs... but it will bolster your case in court. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
